TV theme songs that still slap
.
.
So far this Requestival, triple j listeners have been coming through with some absolute pearlers when it comes to theme music and soundtrack moments: there’s been iconic selections and some extremely deep cuts.
We’ve been inundated with requests for theme songs for childhood shows like the Saddle Club, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Pokemon, Round the Twist, Magic School Bus and lots more. Our app has also been jammed with requests for Disney and Pixar cuts, and countless songs from Adam Sandler movies.
But what is it about TV themes and soundtracks that hit so hard? We went through the request line to find out.
The Saddle Club
☏ “Me and the boys were at the pub thinking about The Saddle Club, got kicked out for crying too much.”
☏ “Takes me back to riding the ponies. Back when I thought the Saddle Club was the coolest…”
Pokémon
☏ “Picture this, it’s the late ’90s and you’re getting ready for school between commercial breaks on Cheez TV, you’ve just put on a sock and you hear this track blaring from the TV. You sprint down the hallway and dive over the couch.”
☏ “Because we all want to be the very best.”
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
☏ “If you can still rap along with this then you’re a real one!”
☏ “Childhood days, every day we would rush home from school and put the TV on for this and sing it out loud! Still a banger!”
Captain Planet
☏ “Iconic! And who doesn’t need more encouragement to look after our planet!”
☏ “Because Captain Planet, he’s a hero, gonna take pollution down to zero! The cartoon was ahead of its time”

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
