The City of Maribyrnong is excited to welcome the return of their beloved winter warmer series of live music events with the third instalment of West Set – a nine-day music festival taking over the inner west this June. Footscray’s unique venue density makes it the perfect location to host the festival, which will this year showcase over 60 diverse acts across 14 venues, all within walking distance of one another. From Thursday 10 June – Sunday 20 June, West Set will boast a program of over 60 events that are nearly all free, including all-ages shows and panel discussions, with something for the whole community to enjoy.
“The live music scene here in the west is alive and well. Musical talent is at the forefront of our thriving calendar of festivals that gets people in the City of Maribyrnong out and about – even in the cold winter months. Nothing proves this more than the bumper line up featured in our West Set 2021 Festival. You’ll be spoilt for choice with over 60 events on offer across nine days, nearly all of them free and open for the whole community to enjoy. I encourage you all to rug up and get out there and support our local venues and enjoy all that this brilliant festival has to offer.” – Cr Michael Clarke, Mayor of Maribyrnong City Council

After the year that was, West Set is thrilled to support the recovery of live music and local traders, and announce its 2021 participating venues. The proceedings will kick off at this year’s Festival Club and best kept secret in the west, Baby Snakes – a cosy new European rooftop bar just a hop skip and a jump from Footscray Train Station. Other venues featured in the program include the newest member of the Cherry Bar and Yah Yah’s family, Hotel Westwood which will host West Set’s Opening Night with headliner Angie McMahon and Maple Glider, plus Yarraville’s acclaimed creative hub, cafe, bar and bandroom, Kindred Studios. Barkly Street hotspots Sloth Bar, Littlefoot, Jambo, The Cheeky Pint and Small French Bar will also join the program, while Corner 90, Pride of Our Footscray and Footscray Hotel will warm up the other end of Hopkins Street. From the team behind Fitzroy’s Builders Arms comes westside watering hole Victoria Hotel, and rounding out the impressive list of West Set venues in 2021 is Hyde Street’s stunning Bluestone Church, and underground beat specialists Counterweight Vinyl.
“As a Footscray resident of 10+ years, I am thrilled to be performing with my bands Edith Lane and Tender Buttons as part of this year’s West Set Festival. I look forward to presenting a lineup at Hotel Westwood of artists that have recorded at Love Shack Studios and supporting Black Cab at Kindred Studios. West Set is an opportunity for music lovers from all over to come and celebrate the West.”
– Jessicca Bennett, Love Shack Studios Director and Audio Engineer + Edith Lane and Tender Buttons

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
