Singles Highlights: 

#1: Olivia Rodrigo ‘Good 4 U’ – Moving up one spot, ‘Good 4 U’ by Olivia Rodrigo hits #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. It becomes the American artist’s second chart-topper after ‘Drivers License’ (#1 Jan. ’21). Last week the single hit #1 in the US, Canada and New Zealand. On top of her new #1 single and the #1 debut of her album SOUR, Rodrigo hits a new peak at #3 with previous single ‘Deja Vu’, climbs from #19 to #5 with ‘Drivers License’ and scores seven debuts in this week’s top 50, including ‘Traitor’ at #7. The last artist to have four or more singles in the Top Ten was Taylor Swift, who had five on the chart w/c 3 August 2020.

#6: BTS ‘Butter’ – K-pop superstars BTS claim their third Top Ten entry on the ARIA Singles Chart as they debut at #6 with ‘Butter’. It’s the group’s second English-language single after ‘Dynamite’ (#2 Aug. ’20). The video for ‘Butter’ surpassed 200 million views on YouTube in four days and one hour. The track set the new record for largest single-day streams of any song ever on Spotify with 20.9 million streams globally.

#36: Bella Poarch ‘Build A B**ch’ – American social media personality Bella Poarch makes her Singles Chart debut at #36 with ‘Build A B**ch’. Poarch first became prominent thanks to her lip sync videos on TikTok. Her video lip syncing to ‘M to the B’ by Millie B became one of the platform’s most liked videos. ‘Build A B**ch’ has begun to move up the charts in a number of territories.

#47: Majestic vs. Boney M ‘Rasputin’ – London DJ/producer Majestic hits this week’s Singles Chart with his remix of Boney M’s ‘Rasputin’. The remix was released after the track resurged in popularity via TikTok. The track, which originally peaked at #1 in Australia for two weeks in 1978, has been used in over 4 million videos on the social media platform.

#48: Vance Joy ‘Missing Piece’ – Melbourne singer-songwriter Vance Joy returns to the ARIA Top 50 for the first time in three years as he releases ‘Missing Piece’. The track becomes the first chart appearance by the two-time ARIA Award winner since ‘Saturday Sun’ (#47 Jun. ’18).

Albums Highlights:

#1: Olivia Rodrigo ‘SOUR’ – American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo lands at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with SOUR. Rodrigo’s debut album features the chart-topping singles ‘Drivers License’ (#1 Jan. ’21) and ‘Good 4 U’, which hits #1 this week. It also includes the Top Tens ‘Deja Vu’ (#3 May ’21) and ‘Traitor’ (#7 May ’21). Ten of SOUR’s eleven tracks appear in this week’s ARIA Top 50. Rodrigo becomes the first artist to top both charts since Justin Bieber did it in mid-April 2021 with Justice and ‘Peaches’. She’s the first female solo artist to top both charts since Taylor Swift did it with evermore and ‘Willow’ in December 2020

#2: P!nk ‘All I Know So Far: Setlist’ – P!nk takes out her tenth Top Ten album on the ARIA Charts as she releases All I Know So Far: Setlist. The album serves as the soundtrack to the concert/documentary film All I Know So Far. The album includes a host of live performances as well as recent singles ‘Cover Me In Sunshine’ (#6 Mar. ’21) and ‘All I Know So Far’ (#25 May ’21). P!nk has had six #1 albums in Australia, most recently with Hurts 2B Human (#1 May ’19).

#3: Twenty One Pilots ‘Scaled And Icy’ – American duo Twenty One Pilots score their third Top Ten album on the ARIA Charts with Scaled And Icy. The pair’s sixth studio album is the follow-up to the chart-topping Trench (#1 Oct. ’18) and was recorded by both members in different locations during 2020.

#4: Powderfinger ‘One Night Lonely’ – Brisbane rock luminaries Powderfinger return to the Top Ten for the second time in under a year, debuting at #4 with One Night Lonely. The album captures the socially-distanced one-off reunion from the 18-time ARIA Award winners in May 2020 in aid of music industry charity Support Act. Previously released digitally, the album hits the chart now following its release on vinyl, limited to 2305 copies. Powderfinger returned to the chart last year with the rarities collection Unreleased (1998 – 2010) (#2 Dec. ’20). One Night Lonely has debuted at #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart this week.

#6: My Bloody Valentine ‘Loveless’ – Shoegaze icons My Bloody Valentine make their first ever ARIA Albums Chart Top Ten appearance at #6 with their 1991 album Loveless. Originally released on Creation Records, the band’s second album has grown in legend in the subsequent three decades, being cited by generations of artists as an inspiration. It has also been hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time by the likes of NME, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. The entry of Loveless and the band’s 1988 debut album Isn’t Anything (#45) into the Top 50 comes following the reissue of My Bloody Valentine’s three studio albums and the compilation EP’s 1988–1991. Loveless is #2 and Isn’t Anything is #3 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#16: Dr. Colossus ‘I’m A Stupid Moron With An Ugly Face And A Big Butt And My Butt Smells And I Like To Kiss My Own Butt’ – Simpsons-inspired Melbourne doom rock band Dr. Colossus score their first ARIA Albums Chart entry with I’m A Stupid Moron With An Ugly Face And A Big Butt And My Butt Smells And I Like To Kiss My Own Butt. It’s the group’s second album, coming nearly four years on from their 2017 debut, The Dank. Dr. Colossus will be touring in support of the album in June.

#23: Various ‘Eurovision Song Contest Rotterdam 2021’ – The soundtrack to the Eurovision Song Contest Rotterdam 2021 hits this week’s chart at #23. The album features all 39 participating songs including Montaigne’s entry for Australia, ‘Technicolour’, and Italy’s Måneskin with their winning song ‘Zitti e buoni’. Eurovision soundtracks have appeared in the Top 50 every year for the last ten years, including last year: Eurovision 2020 – A Tribute To The Artists And Songs (#42 May ’20).
