Today Sarah Blasko finally releases her rare EP ‘Cinema Songs’ on digital services. Recorded in 2009 around the time she released her acclaimed album As Day Follows Night. ‘Cinema Songs’ is a six-song EP that celebrates Blasko’s love of classic cinema. Each song is a stripped-back piano-led ballad which shines a light on the extraordinary interpretive skills of one of Australia’s finest performers.

Prior to today, these songs were only available to European audiences through a deluxe release of As Day Follows Night more than 11 years ago, but now Blasko fans can finally access the recordings and hear a universe of movie-themed songs that Sarah herself has loved throughout her life.
“Cinema Songs is a bunch of songs from musicals I love growing up that I thought would make a nice addition to the As Day Follows Night Deluxe version all those years ago. Jim Moginie and I wanted the recordings to sound like we were playing them in a little piano bar somewhere. I’m fully aware that ‘If I Only Had A Brain’ was a ridiculous choice, that’s why I didn’t release it widely the first time around, but here it is in all its glory! Enjoy!”
Today also marks the day (after a year of COVID-related vinyl plant shut downs) that the complete deluxe vinyl reissue of As Day Follows Night (also featuring Cinema Songs on vinyl) hits stores. Released on Dew Process in July 2009, As Day Follows Night represents a high watermark in Australian songwriting. It won the 2009 J-Award for Australian Album Of The Year, and also took out the ARIA Award for Female Artist Of The Year. The album, which features favourites such as ‘All I Want’, ‘We Won’t Run’ and ‘Bird On A Wire’, went on to achieve platinum certification and was listed at #19 in the book 100 Best Australian Albums, the highest placed record by a female artist.

Blasko has described the album as a “hopeful heartbreak” record. It’s a collection of songs which inhabits a rare sonic universe created over 5 magical days in Sweden with producer Bjorn Yttling.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
