Today, French artist, producer and world-renowned DJ Folamour drops The Journey, out via his own label FHUO Records.

Since the beginning of the year, Folamour has drip-fed hit after hit taken from the third studio album in his highly-praised discography. His first release “Just Want Happiness” teased the roots of what was to come, whilst the album’s title track “The Journey” feat. Zeke Manyika received backing from DJ Mag, BBC Radio 1, Purple Sneakers and more. If that wasn’t enough, he went onto be a mixmag cover star in April before dropping the momentous single, “Lost In Space” alongside UK disco-pop sensation, SG Lewis, which has already wracked up a million streams and gained support from Notion Magazine, MTV, Triple J and more.

Now finally unleashing his full collection, The Journey is a 12-track package of vibrant and complex production mastery. Looking to tell a story of his personal musical journey, the album focuses on a narrative that sees him shift away from samples and computers to concentrate on his own vocals, lyrics and true recordings of strings, brass and drums – a journey that will also be showcased within an exclusive Annie Mac mini mix on release day.

Staying true to his old-school core, the album includes tracks such as “My Brother’s Keeper” and “We Gotta Wake The World Up From Its Sleep”, which play with recognisable funk, guitar riffs and synth structures, while “St Moscov” and “Rue de Paradis” emerge more vocal lead, something which is new for the seasoned DJ and producer. The album’s focus track, “Resonate” is Folamour’s most personal from the LP, featuring his own vocals and coming to life when he felt that the album was missing a danceable, yet emotive track.

The album is thus an initiatory rite, in form as well as in substance; the tale of a life brimming with joys and trials, both in its writing, production, and in its message. Mixing contemporary sadness with a focus on the simple pleasures of life, The Journey is neither a joyful tale, nor sad and disillusioned; it is the sum of all and everything in-between that form life’s experiences in all forms. The album cover is a painting from Tomás Sánchez titled “Meditador en la laguna” painted in 1995, edited by Koria for this release.

Folamour’s skill in both producing and DJing has demonstrated him as one of the most promising artists in the dance scene, performing at over 140 shows in 2019 and swinging down to Australia in 2020 to play at Pitch Festival followed by a sold-out headline tour. His explosion into the electronic scene came with his iconic 2019 Boiler Room setwhich saw the crowd go crazy with his spin of the ABBA classic, “Gimme Gimme Gimme”, is still being talked about throughout the electronic scene. Even during a pandemic, his livestreams on Boiler RoomDefected and more garnered millions of views during a time when the world needed his uplifting sets most. Previously, his singles, EPs and past 2 albums, Umami and Ordinary Drugs have churned up millions of streams and were released via highly esteemed labels such as All City, Classic, Church, Glitterbox, as well as his own imprint FHUO Records.

The world firmly watching, Folamour strides into a new era in his musical story with his third studio album, The Journey, pushing his artist project into realms his fans have never seen it before.
