Support for ‘SOMETHING BETTER’
“Something Better’ feels destined for a Parklife Festival speaker.” – Pilerats (AUS)
“Good Lekker looked at the calendar and decided that 2021 would be the year they went to the next level. I’m loving the pulse here – it’s a little more urgent than some of the band’s fellow NSW South Coast contemporaries.” – 4/5 stars Dave Ruby Howe – triple j Unearthed (AUS)

Following the warmly received release of ‘Hard To Be Alone’, Wollongong-based indie-dance band Good Lekker have today returned with their vibrant new single ‘Something Better’ – produced and mixed by Daniel Willington (ILUKA), and mastered by Steve Smart (Vance Joy, Tash Sultana, Dean Lewis).
The track opens with penetrating synths before launching in a syncopated groove, accentuated with fervent drums, polyphonic guitars and sharp vocals. The group’s stirring chemistry is spotlighted with tenuous dynamics before the song flows into a call-and-response chorus, bursting with colourful vocals and technical intricacy. Closing out the song is an extensive build up of instrumentation, soaring into a resounding finale enriched with the musical elements that define Good Lekker’s unique sound.
Band member Alex Gray talks about the meaning behind ‘Something Better’: ‘Something Better’ was inspired by the unpredictability of trying to succeed within the music industry. It also questions whether success is something that can be quantified within the creative realm. For Good Lekker, the track is somewhat of an ironic ode to this idea as we hope it brings us ‘success’, however that may be. The track aims to showcase Good Lekker’s pop sensibility whilst having the rawer rock and alternative roots the band knows and loves.”

To coincide with the release, Good Lekker will again traverse the East-Coast with performances lined up in Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney. This continues on from previous touring schedules, having sold out multiple headline shows and sharing stages with crowd favourites MALLRAT, Hockey Dad, The Vanns, Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers, Boo Seeka and The Babe Rainbow. The band have also made appearances at Australian boutique festivals Party in the Paddock, Yours & Owls, Sweaty Palms, FKA Festival and Garden Party.
Previous single ‘Hard To Be Alone’ was widely embraced by triple j, triple j Unearthed, SYN FM, Radio Adelaide and 2SER. It has also seen online support from Temporary Dreamer, Milky, GC Live, Australian Music Scene and AAA Backstage.
In the coming weeks, Good Lekker will reveal an accompanying video for ‘Something Better’.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
