Praise for PINKISH BLU

Red Hot Moon: “…another hot one from these Adelaide bros who always deliver the goods.” – Nick Findlay, Triple J

Backward: “I had a hunch after a few listens and now after 10 or so, I’m fairly sure this is Pinkish Blu’s best song yet. it’s got their trademark emotion and thick pop feelings but it’s also got this added size and breakout feeling that i just can’t get enough of. 5 stars” – Declan Byrne, Triple J

Backward: “Clever songwriting, emotionally driven and endearing charm, and hooks that I can’t quite get out of my mind. It really does feel like you’ve stepped right into your strongest song to date and once again I find myself head over heels for another PB release. Not complaining though. So much love!
5 stars” – Claire Mooney, Triple j

Backward: “Great hearing Pinkish Blu opening up the toybox and bringing in a whole bunch of new sounds, tricks and techniques into the mix for this one. It’s a winning combination of style, heart and euphoria. 4 stars”  – Dave Ruby Howe, Triple j Unearthed

Backward: “I was so excited for this new PB track, and it definitely delivered. 4.5 stars” – Ash McGregor, Triple J

Backward: “The perfect step forward for a band that COULD become a serious heavyweight of Australian music. It’s not a knockout blow but it’s the right step forward from the influences they’ve showcased in the past and brings in some more raw guitar sounds. Up the PBs! 4.5 stars – Tommy Faith, Triple j Unearthed

“Old Blue, a song that seems to capture the Pinkish Blu vision perfectly and show how they’re continuing to reach new peaks with everything they release and everything they do through 2021.” – Pilerats

“Carrying so much emotion and vulnerability within such a musically diverse tracklist, every song is instantly catchy.” – The Music

“Pinkish Blu are an iridescent Adelaidean pop band that will have lyric-lovers falling head over heels for their romanticised intricacy.”  – AU Review

Adelaide indie-pop 4 piece Pinkish Blu release their new single ‘Old Blue’ today, and share details about their forthcoming sophomore EP, coming out on July 30.

Although their new track ‘Old Blue’ is a step in a new direction for the band, it still features their trademark alt-pop sound.  The band reveals more about ‘Old Blue’, “Sonically we’ve tried to combine two contrasting sections to create an interesting switch up of sorts but all the while trying to not throw the listener out of the song completely. Lyrically it has to be our most self-critical and honest work to date, looking at the internal disdain for oneself and discussing the impact that has on those around us. But also how with enough self criticism one can turn that all around for the betterment of others.”

The beautiful and visually arresting video directed by Aimee-Lee Curran touches on the subject of how difficult it can be to “move on” in life, whether that be moving on from someone or something, it’s important to at least try.”

For fans of subversive alt-pop bands like The 1975 and Owl City, Pinkish Blu’s forthcoming EP features new tracks and their previously released singles in 2021: ‘Start A Band’ which secured a swag of Spotify playlists, and ‘Backward’, which was added to Triple j rotation in March.

“People just do good things sometimes’ is honestly just a darker toned sequel to ‘there’s no such things as good people’. We wanted there to be two sides of the story and it ended up to be exactly that. The process of making ‘people just do good things sometimes’ can be summed up as stripping things down conceptually and sonically to get to those bare bone truths of the matter. Each song became a matter of forming a slightly more realistic and less romanticised take on concepts we’ve all experienced.”

Pinkish Blu have come a long way since winning Triple j Unearthed in 2019 to becoming one of Australia’s most promising indie pop bands. They’re signed to Sony Music, and managed by LA based management company ‘Lost Boy’ who also manage dark-indie pop singer, Cxloe.

Pinkish Blu have shared the stage with Thelma Plum and Hilltop Hoods at Groovin The Moo, and supported the likes of G Flip, The Rubens, Trophy Eyes and most recently with Odette in May. The band will be playing a few shows in support of their EP throughout July.
