‘Down On Your Luck‘ (out via Republic Records) is the uplifting single from New Zealand electronic duo SACHI and overnight they have shared the mesmerising video to accompany their latest heart felt track. Following their thrilling return to the New Zealand festival circuit with February’s live music love letter ‘Take Me Back‘, which has already amassed over 1.5 million streams, the duo are also excited to announce their second EP is slated for release late September.
Nick Chrisp, one half of SACHI, has proven not only is he at home on music production, he’s also just as at home behind the camera, directing the gripping video. Nick says “We wanted a video accompaniment to Down On Your Luck that supported and furthered the ideas of the song, continuing our exploration of support networks, self sabotage and resilience through a new narrative arc – love conquers all.”
He also explains why the location was such a perfect choice, “We shot it at a warehouse in Central Auckland in May, a warehouse that coincidentally Will and I used to play indoor Netball in as kids. I worked with such an incredible team on the video, Molly Leishman produced, Mason Bennet DOP’d and Ian Craig was my 2AD, as well as our incredible leads Kayla Paige and Carl Flavell, and everybody else involved.”

The track was written while the duo were living in LA, the pair called upon the vocals of Korean supergroup BTS close collaborator Candace Sosa to bring the empathetic anthem to life. Building tension with ethereal, ambient breaks in between each energetic drop, the passionate production arrangement compliments the spirit of the song’s lyricism, as the vocals tenderly sing of solidarity in times of need. Charged by the stirring emotion of human connection by way of the dancefloor’s bond, SACHI intends ‘Down On Your Luck’ to be played loud and with those closest to you.
“For me, it’s about the power and importance of people at times of vulnerability,” Nick details of ‘Down On Your Luck’. “Having friends and family around you and being able to confide in them when you get ‘Down On Your Luck’. The beauty and immense weight that relationships carry, in that sense.”
Will adds, “As soon as we wrote the vocal we knew we had to make the production compliment the emotion of it. We wanted to make something that felt emotional yet brought people to the dancefloor too.”

AMNPLIFY – JC
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
