Wise Music Australia, part of the global independent music publishing Wise Music Group, is continuing its worldwide sub-publishing of The A&R Department, a growing catalogue which boasts over 1000 locally written and recorded tracks. The six-year relationship to date has continued to reap rewards for its Australian writers/artists, such as The Montreals, Minimal Miggy, Mantis Empire, MAXO, Asha, Kyle Maher and Em George through successful global synch activity.
The A&R Department is one of Australia’s longest running label services platforms dedicated to supporting emerging local artists. The ongoing partnership with Wise Music provides a platform for the easy-clear, one-stop catalogue to reach audiences across the globe and has seen synch activity for the roster not only within Australian productions such as Mustangs FC and Playing For Keeps but also in territories like Asia (with multiple placements in Netflix Japan’s Terrace House), the UK (MTV’s Teen Mom UK, Better Homes & Gardens and Sky Sports) and as far reaching as Brazil (in variety show Lady Night).
Founded by Matt O’Connor, former head of A&R at Warner Music Australia, the A&R Department is focused on developing local talent by providing support in the areas of publicity, A&R, release strategy, distribution, radio servicing and more, to expand the reach of Australian independent music and artists.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
