Plus, we farewell the hosts of triple j’s Roots ‘n All and Mix Up

After more than 10 years at the station, Friday Night Shuffle’s Vance Musgrove is hanging up the headphones on Friday 20 August.

He’ll be passing the dance music baton along to electronic duo Choomba, who are set to host triple j’s new dance music show ‘The Nudge’ every Friday night from 10pm!

Vance Musgrove says “It’s been an absolute privilege to represent dance music at triple j and be able to provide a platform for up-and-coming dance artists. Thank you to the listeners, the show has always been about you. I’m excited to put more time into making and releasing music and I can’t wait to keep the party going with you at Aston Shuffle shows soon!”

For over a decade, The Aston Shuffle have been at the cutting edge of dance music in Australia, introducing us to a heap of Hottest 100 hits and supporting the careers of developing acts through spotlights such as the Tune of the Week.

Hailing from Tassie, now living the dream on the Gold Coast, Choomba is made up of Christian Benson and Tim Benson who are mates first and cousins second.

Choomba says “We’re bloody excited to be starting our new triple j show The Nudge. Still can’t believe they’ve handed us the reins to be honest. We’re just two young boys from Tassie with a dream. The show’s all about new dance and electronic music, mediocre bants and some funny segments to get ya Friday nights really sizzlin’ for a nudge.”

We also say a heartfelt goodbye to triple j’s Roots ‘n All host Nkechi Anele. For the last four years Nkechi has been on your airwaves, getting to the roots of all things blues, roots, reggae, world beats, alt country and folk. Nkechi has interviewed iconic artists like Ms. Lauryn Hill and Leon Bridges and brought her palpable music passion and expertise to your radio every Monday night.

Nkechi says, “What a wild and marvellous ride the past four years have been. Music is the air I breathe and the pinnacle of joy in my life. So, thanks for trusting me with your tracks and getting down to the good stuff with me. I’ve loved watching new and diverse artists redefine how this country makes and enjoys music, and I can’t wait to see that grow. I’ll be tuning in to find out what to listen to next!”

Nkechi’s last show will be on Monday 9 August, and triple j’s Weekend Lunch presenter groove king Tyrone Pynor will be taking over for the rest of the year.

And finally, triple j’s Mix Up host and producer Andy Garvey is finishing up at triple j later this month. Over the last five years, Andy’s brought huge vibes to Saturday nights and has grown Mix Up to be one of the world’s best dance music shows, securing mixes with artists like Diplo, Mark Ronson, Flight Facilities, Pendulum, Peggy Gou, The Blessed Madonna, and many more.

Andy says, “Showcasing so many incredible artists every week has been a dream, and I will forever look at this job as one of the most exciting and inspiring of my career. It’s time for a new chapter though, and I can’t wait to continue to elevate and promote exciting new talents in club music!”

Andy Garvey’s job at triple j is up for grabs, so if you live and breathe electronic music and are a gun radio producer, head here!

Tune in to triple j as we farewell these three legends across the next few weeks!
