How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
Both Thrash and Heavy Metal are very energy-based and organic styles of music which suit Desecrator very well – being a live focused group. I think people can connect with the organic sound of the band through the driving force of our riffs.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
Metallica, Live Shit Binge and Purge, Seattle 1989 show. Peak performance.

Your new album “Summoning” is soon to be released on August 27th. Describe its origin and evolution.
Summoning is Desecrator’s third album and most versatile to date. It has a much broader writing style than our previous more genre-focused releases. As a collaboration I think it’s strength is in the life experience of the writers after years of touring and toiling .

How do you think “Summoning” stacks up to your previous releases? Any notable differences, improvements, strengths?
Summoning is a natural progression in songwriting that shows maturity and refrain not seen in our previous records.

Lyrically, what does Desecrator grasp onto? Is there an ongoing theme on the new album or are you branching out into new territory?
There is no set theme but a thread of experience and emotional growth as mentioned above, and the occasional song about war for good luck.

Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
Covid restrictions pending Desecrator will be touring nationally September through to January with a list of East and West coast dates available on our socials and website.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
John Bush has been tipped to replace me by my band members for years so they’d pick him… I agree.

Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
After 12 years of touring Australia and the world I think we’re well on our way.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
Too many shows to mention the big ones but honestly it’s the little basements in Russia, the link squats in France, the restaurants in Mexico and the regional towns of Australia that make us feel alive, and in danger – but mostly alive.
