“an emotional ballad that scales the mountain and takes you with them.” 4 / 5 (Declan Byrne, Triple J)
“Another impressive one for 2021 from Joan & The Giants. They’ve zeroed in on an emotional centre point like a professional dart player throwing bullseyes at your heart.” 4 / 5 (Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J)
“Just For You is a deep moving piece that really sees frontwoman Grace Newton-Wordsmith bring out her hauntingly amazing vocal delivery” AAA Backstage

Joan & The Giant’s just released their powerful and emotionally moving single ‘Just For You’ on September 10 ahead their WA tour. The heartfelt single is now being visually represented with this hard-hitting music video that explores the desperate struggle with isolation and mental health.
In loving memory of Jadon Peter Wilder, the music video centres around the journey of a man, from infancy to adulthood. It’s a journey that shows how an illness like depression can make a person feel claustrophobic in their own skin and distanced from those who care about them.
Opening the clip and setting the underlying theme is the following statement: “Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians between 15 and 44 years of age”
In parallel with the stripped-back track that swells with hauntingly delicate layers, director Steve Browne portrays the different stages of Jadon’s life within a cold claustrophobic set.
Dressed in black, Grace Newton-Wordsmith sits as she wails out the tender lyrics as the journey of Jadon from an infant in his mother’s arms to his desperate struggle with mental health as an adult. As the darkness closes in, represented by the dripping black paint, Grace, in one last desperate effort smashes through a wall to let the light seep in. Grace states: “This metaphor is used to show how we as humans can escape dark times, it also reflects the hope that this music video, will help to ‘smash’ some of the stigma surrounding mental health and break down the walls surrounding the conversation.”
Closing out the poignant clip Grace makes her way out of the hole in the wall. The seeping black paint in the now bare room heart-breakingly reveals a portrait of Jadon Peter Wilder overlayed with a final message ‘In Loving Memory of Jadon Peter Wilder’.
Joan & The Giant’s harrowing single and music video is out now and the band will be continuing the WA tour throughout September and October.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
