After a lifetime of friendship and trouble-making, genre-bending Perth duo Otiuh (pronounced Oh-tee-yah) prepare to shake it up once again, with their latest single ‘Whatcha Saying’.
Bouncing back on to the airwaves with their third release of 2021, Cesare Papa and Jahmeil Baker’s signature high-energy bass lines and spitfire lyrics, manipulate hip-hop beats with a taste of funky disco. ‘Whatcha Saying’ comes around every corner and surprises you with a new satisfying soundscape, once again, demonstrating what it means to be Otiuh.

As hinted in their previous single release, today Otiuh confirm their third EP, The Bandit & The Meditator, set to release Friday 17 November. This seven-track EP, which boasts four unreleased Otiuh scorchers, as well as past faves ‘Friends Like’ and ‘Simple’, is a celebration of Otiuh’s dedication to sonic diversity and genre-blending. For Cesare, The Bandit & The Mediator is Otiuh’s most sincere release yet, “The songs feel more like reflections of us than previously…so does the production,” he explains.
This isn’t the only hot news the Otiuh have been stirring up, today they reveal their recent signing to Sydney’s samesame Records (ADA/Warner Music). Founder of samesame, Maddy Hume, is elated to have Otiuh on board, stating “samesame is thrilled to be welcoming Otiuh to the family, the duo fit perfectly into our roster and ethos. I love everything about Otiuh, carving their own way in the hiphop space.” The sentiment is shared with Cesare who explained, “It’s a vote of confidence for sure, Myself and Jahmeil are at a stage where we finally believe in this music and we’re stoked to have Maddy on our team. This signing is going to give this project the best chance of success and we can’t wait to get this rolled out.”
Otiuh having been blazing trails through the Western Australia hip-hop scene. This year, they were nominated in the prestigious WAM awards for Best Hip-Hop Artist 2021. Their recent record label signing success is only one of many, such as landing on Spotify’s The Hybrid and receiving national radio play on triple j’s Home & Hosed. The double act has also been a constant supply of collaborative energy having worked with local contemporaries Adrian Dzuke, Mali Jo$e, and Hyclass.
The Otiuh boys have been spitting out quality tracks, time after time, guesses are good on whatcha will be saying after this one.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
