Perth’s coastal sweethearts, South Summit have had an incredible 2021.

The release of ‘River Days’ (produced by Dave Parkin – Spacey Jane, Tired Lion) saw the band score spins across triple j, triple j Unearthed rotation, a feature on the station’s Instagram & finally signing with coveted Australian agency Four Tone Artists. Spotify Australia also highlighted the band in their First Nations focused playlist ‘Original Storytellers’.

Cementing their status as not only “ones to watch”, but as an act already inspiring and captivating audiences across the country, this fervor for South Summit culminated in a SOLD OUT single launch at Perth’s iconic Jack Rabbit Slims. A venue more accustomed to international acts & established artists, than the rapidly emerging fanbase that South Summit has impressively built in a brief amount of time, the performance was a statement of just how much potential the band holds.

The music video for ‘River Days’ captures this moment. The band taking to the stage in their most authentic form; humbled, eager and at their sharpest when sharing their craft with those who support them, riding the wave of a South Summit performance.

‘River Days’ is a breakout track for the 5-piece, who spent weeks with producer Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, Tired Lion) refining the track, ensuring it retained the raw emotion of the initial demo. Catchy, heartfelt and memorable ‘River Days’ is a groove that demands attention, grabbing audiences by the hand and taking them on a sonic journey with a winding narrative. With Dave Parkin’s guidance the band was able to take the song up another notch, crafting an instant classic behind singer Zaya’s earnest storytelling.

“When we first wrote it, we knew it had potential and did not want to rush the writing process. We didn’t plan on recording ‘River Days’ this early as we didn’t think it was ready, but we took a leap of faith.

After weeks in the studio we came out with a song that was completely different to what we came in with, which retained the elements of the original demo, but truly captured the meaning behind the words.” South Summit, Zaya (Lead Singer)

School friends Zaya, Nathan, Fynn, Nemo & Josh quickly combined their influences (Ocean Alley, Pink Floyd, The Police) to create beautifully distinctive and flowing melodies – instantly recognisable, but uniquely South Summit.
