After a seven-year hiatus, much loved country-rock titans Drew McAlister and Troy Kemp join forces again as McAlister Kemp, to deliver the triumphant new single, ‘After the Breakdown’.
True to the real-life themes that McAlister Kemp are renowned for, ‘After the Breakdown’ is a song about moving on and finding hope after a tragedy or hard times.
‘After the Breakdown’ is the prelude to their fourth studio album, set for release in 2022 via ABC Music
Drew McAlister said today, “Troy and I are absolutely stoked to be releasing ‘After the Breakdown’ after such a long time away. It’s fitting that this was the very first song we wrote when we reconnected. We’re very excited to be releasing new music and can’t wait to play the new songs for our fans who have supported us over so many years!”
Troy Kemp concurred, saying, “After a seven-year break concentrating on our solo projects, we are excited to be back together, rocking the duo again and to deliver our first new track, I can’t wait for everyone to hear it! We are pumped to be re-signing with the crew at ABC Music. We have missed our fans and really look forward to bringing them MK 2.0!”
Natalie Waller, Head of ABC Music & Events, said today, “We are so happy to welcome McAlister Kemp back to the ABC Music family. This new single ‘After The Breakdown’ delivers everything that we’ve come to love about the band over the years and we cannot wait to hear more from the album!”

McAlister Kemp made a surprise return in 2020 with two sold-out shows at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and are excited to return to play West Tamworth League Club on Friday, January 21, for one exclusive show. They’ll also return to thrill fans for a live set at Savannah in the Round, September 30 – October 2, 2022 with more tour dates for 2022 to be announced.
McAlister Kemp are one of the most successful Australian country music acts of the last decade with a swag of #1 singles & albums along with Golden Guitar & CMC Awards. From the immediate breakout success of their debut album ‘All Kinds of Tough’ in 2010 through to their parting in 2015, the pair earned their stripes as one of the highest selling and most loved touring acts in Australia.
But it is not just the strength of their live shows that brought them acclaim. Their three albums released via ABC Music – ‘All Kinds of Tough’ (2010), ‘Country Proud’ (2012) and ‘Harder to Tame’ (2014) – are classics of the genre, packed with hands-in-the-air rockers such as ‘Hell Yeah’, ‘Hard Work’ and ‘Country Proud’ along with hit anthems like ‘It Don’t Buy You Love’, ‘Fight Me’, and ‘All Kinds of Tough’.
The seven-year break has been rewarding for Drew & Troy individually with solo albums, hit singles, awards and touring. and with a legacy as enduring as the MK catalogue, it was only a matter of time before the pair would unleash once again.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
