Six of Australia’s beloved artists shed gentle light on the settling hours in new album “Nightlight”, presented by award-winning charity the Hush Foundation with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
“Nightlight” is out now and is the Hush Foundation’s nineteenth album release.
More than two years in the making as Covid played havoc with timelines alongside the logistics of scheduling six high profile female artists – Missy Higgins, Kate Miller-Heidke, Megan Washington, Mama Kin, Emily Wurramara, and Naomi Crellin – and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, “Nightlight” is a gentle and beautiful album for parents, carers and the village who raise us.
Professor Catherine Crock AM, Hush Founder and Chair said, “What a joy to share this uplifting and optimistic Hush album with the world. I listened as our artists wove this music with kindness, respect and generosity in their hearts. We hope that people facing challenging times as new parents with babies in hospital or at home, will find solace and solidarity in these songs.”
Mama Kin said, “Hush is a beautifully intentioned initiative to bring kindness into spaces of sickness, disconnection or isolation. It is such a simple yet very powerful human offering to bring to people when they’re at their most vulnerable.”
Emily Wurramara said, “When I was approached to be a part of this I was so excited! Not only to be a part of such an incredible line-up of talented artists but the actual project itself and what healing it will create for those who listen.”
These beloved artists, their voices, their shared experience and the TSO keep company with the night and those who pace in their slippers, who rock, worry and becalm the dark while the rest of the world sleeps.
Our six artists visited carers, parents, children, babies, patients and staff in hospitals and care communities to listen and to reflect on their own experiences of caring and motherhood. What the artists took away with them helped compose these eleven beautiful songs. Calm, concern, wisdom, hope and love are threaded into lyrics and music that will soothe and gently hold otherwise lonely night-time spaces.
The Hush Foundation is beyond proud to be releasing “Nightlight” at a time when our most vulnerable people need a village more than ever before.
The Hush Foundation has been working with renowned Australian artists for nearly 20 years to create music that brings calm and optimism to patients and their families in stressful hospital and healthcare environments.
More than 75,000 Hush albums, as well as extensive digital downloads, have been sold worldwide and for the past decade the Hush Foundation have been one of the largest commissioners of independent music in Australia.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
