Acclaimed Northern NSW singer-songwriter Sam Buckingham is set to release her long-awaited third album Dear John on April 8, 2022. Co-produced by Sam and long-time collaborator Kent Eastwood, the album was recorded by Audio Engineer Paul Pilsneniks (Angus & Julia Stone, India Arie, Eric Bibb, Silverchair) at Byron Bay’s Rockinghorse Studio – the result sees Buckingham delve into some new sounds, as heard on the first two singles from the record.
The first taste from the album came in 2021 with Something More, a powerful catchy anthem focusing on the issues of gender equality, being heard, and self-expressing. This coincided with a string of sold-out shows for Buckingham on her June ‘Something More’ Tour, along with support slots for Paul Kelly, Kate Miller-Heidke, Ben Lee and Tim Freedman– “Buckingham wowed the crowd with her soaring vocals, silencing the room.” STACK Magazine
Now comes new single Run, a song about finding the courage to leave a toxic relationship. Inspired by 80’s production, the melodic track is a rollercoaster listening experience featuring dark lyrics and a bright jangly bridge.
Says Sam, “I was originally planning to make a mostly acoustic album. We started pre-production in my makeshift living room studio and then, late one night, I wrote Run. All of a sudden, I realised that the album I was about to make wasn’t the album that I wanted to make. I scrapped 70% of the songs I’d written for the album and started again.” Run is out now.
“I put a foot in the middle
the other one a little bit out, ready to run
I put a hand on his waist and another on his face
To tell him I’m coming undone
It’s a cold heart reality, trying to get the best of me
That I feel like I’m never enough
So when lightning strikes and I’m standing by his side
I wait ready for another one
But I wanna run”
Sam Buckingham will be touring her new album throughout 2022, check out dates below. In the meantime, you can hear Sam talking to female singer-songwriters on her Podcast ‘Song Baker’.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
