Today, British sensation Alfie Templeman has announced debut headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne this June. The 19-year-old will also perform as special guest for The Wombats on their Australian national arena tour. To celebrate, he shares his new track Leaving Today taken from his joyous, heavily-anticipated debut album Mellow Moon, out 27 May on Chess Club Records/AWAL.
Commenting on Leaving Today – which is co-produced by Alfie and Tom McFarland from Jungle – Templeman says: “Leaving Today was written about what it would be like to go on tour again after so long. Getting far away from home and sitting in that van for hours thinking about all the small things you never realised you missed so much. It’s the first song I’ve played Cello on, I tried to layer up multiple different parts as if it was a mini orchestra of terrible cello players! Tom was super encouraging with the Cello stuff, and he added some really gorgeous production, all the oohs you hear at the start are him.”
Alfie has just completed his first ever UK and European headline tour which included sold-out shows in Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, and his biggest UK show to date at the capital’s Shepherds Bush Empire.

The breakout star will be heading to Australia for the first time this June to perform as special guest for The Wombats in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. He will also take the stage for two exclusive headline shows on Tuesday 14 June at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney, and Thursday 16 June at Howler in Melbourne. The Secret Sounds presale begins on Tuesday 5 April 9am (Local), with general on sale from Wednesday 6 April 9am (Local).
When Alfie Templeman started to work on his long-awaited debut album in early 2020 he could never have predicted the turbulent path that lay ahead for both him personally and the rest of the world. Two years later and the young prodigy has emerged with Mellow Moon; an album that feels like something of a miracle, landing somewhere between an otherworldly trip and a joy-filled ode to life back on earth. As Templeman, himself, puts it; “It feels like I’m on a different planet. I’ve gone somewhere new and I’m discovering fire for the first time.”
The result is an easily accessible comfort place. Across 14 tracks Templeman closes his eyes and imagines another world, one where he’s at ease and not distracted by life’s many challenges. It was only by embracing honesty and moving past the fear of failure that one of the U.K.’s most exciting and distinctive new songwriters could move forwards. “I’m being really open for the first time about where I’m at mentally. Overcoming that felt life changing.” He was also able to call on regular collaborators Tom McFarland (Jungle), Justin Young (The Vaccines), Will Bloomfield, and Rob Milton.
With well over 135 million streams worldwide and a hit tour supporting Chloe Moriondo in North America under his belt already, Alfie Templeman’s global appeal is reaching fever pitch. He has racked up in excess of 221 million radio impacts in the United Kingdom alone; fuelled by the longstanding support of national networks BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, Virgin, Absolute, and Apple Music 1. A spot on the 2021 BBC Sound Of poll, and subsequently in the BBC’s Brit List initiative, along with further tip lists with Radio X, Vevo, Amazon and MTV. Features and reviews have followed from national press tastemakers, including ‘Ones to watch’ tips from The Independent, The Telegraph, The Sun, The Sunday Mirror and Huffington Post, to add to previous accolades from The Observer, The Evening Standard and The Sunday Times.

AMNPLIFY – NB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
