Music creator Anna Sofia (@annasofia) introduces her strikingly powerful 6-track “LET ME OUT I’M FREE!” EP today, listen and (stream here), featuring a brand new music video for her single “Caged Birds Don’t Sing” (watch here)!

The project showcases the Toronto songstress’ storytelling truths across her inner-most anxiety, fears, and powerful overcoming moments; which initially debuted as a tiered trio of offerings leading up to a project release out today via Mismatched Socks Presents.

The infectiously intoxicating and beautifully suffocating project soundtracks an accompanying cinematic film project, co-produced by Anna which arrived on May 25th after IRL premieres in Toronto and Los Angeles! Co-signed by artists like Noga Erez, Anna will support the Israeli singer-songwriter on her tour date in Toronto on June 29 at Velvet Underground – scoop tickets here!

In the “LET ME OUT I’M FREE!” EP, Anna Sofia regains control over her art and lyrically staking her claim on the project. In Anna’s words: “The EP tells a story about a point in my career where the voices of the industry took control over me. I was unable to share my true creative vision, my true taste in music, and overall my true art. I built this world in this facility as a metaphor to express how I was feeling during that time. I felt trapped, controlled, manipulated, and this was exactly how I wanted to execute those feelings.”

Powerful, poignant, and wise in her young years, singer-songwriter Anna Sofia welcomes listeners to her personal thoughts in her coming of age years, through releases and the forthccoming co-directed cinematic film project which emphasizes Anna fighting for her freedom from her mental and physical confines. “In this short film, you will see the journey of me trying to escape this facility. I feel misunderstood, mistreated and that I don’t belong there. The purpose of this story is to express how I felt as I lost my creative freedom, and triumphantly took it back.”

Initial visual offerings include “Surround Me” (watch here), which also dropped as an NFT, “Cruel World” (watch here), “No.5” (watch here). “Web3 and music NFTs is a new way to showcase music.” Anna continues “The industry has been doing it the same way for so long that we were in need of something new and more artist-driven. Not only do we as artists have a new platform to share our art on, but now our fans can get involved! It brings the fan community and artist community together. I’m excited to get into this as an artist, but I am also excited to get into this community as a fan of other artists!”

Growing up just outside of Toronto, Canada, Anna Sofia performed on every stage that would have her, from school recitals to her family restaurant, dreaming of moving abroad to perform like the artists she admired, from Sir Elton John to Tyler the Creator. Now at 18, Anna Sofia has accrued millions of streams and a legion of dedicated fans for one reason: she’s honest.

The multi-instrumentalist’s music represents an artist living in the moment, reflecting on life and navigating the drama of becoming an adult–with sophisticated, experimental and theatrical tunes free from pretense and bullshit, singing directly from the heart of the Gen Z experience. “I don’t have a message. It’s just real life,” she admits. “My goal is to be a source of comfort, safety and empowerment for my audience. I hope my music can be a tool people can use to help them find strength when they need it, and just feel comfortable in their own skin.”

As for this EP, Anna writes, “I want people to take this EP as a piece of advice to never let anyone or anything tell you how to run your life no matter what it is. You make your own choices and do what makes you happy.”
