Previous support for NICK CARVER & THE MEAN STREET BUTCHERS
“It has a gorgeous dirty country blues feel to it, with big earthy guitars and rough-edged vocals. It’s foot-stomping, it’s a riot, yet comforting and personal.” (AU Review)
“Searing soulful sludgy blues! That slide is getting a thrashing and sounds amazing. Love the brooding swamp this one’s rising up from. Unbeatable stompable rhythm.” [About ‘Two Legged Dog’] (Steph Hughes, Triple J)
“I’m glad I’m wearing boots while listening because I felt the intense need to stomp.” [About ‘Two Legged Dog’] (Stacy Gougoulis, Triple J)
“Blow me down and let rip Nick! This is the kind of grit I can sunk my teeth into.” [About ‘Two Legged Dog’] (Kath Devaney, Triple J)
“When Carver and company go big they really go big. This one is shuddering with swampy power.” [About ‘Pony’] (Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J)
“Delectably twisted, love how this looms in the darkness and refuses to come out. Sonically dazzling, I love the dark and mysterious world you live in.” [About ‘Wild Dog Road’] (Nkechi Anele, Triple J)

About ‘The Way That You Walk’
Written and Performed by Nick Carver & the Mean St Butchers
Recorded at The Aviary Studios, Melbourne

Known for their searing brand of soulful blues that combines walloping Americana folk roots with moody rock revelations, Nick Carver & the Mean Street Butchers are bringing forth their simmering new single ‘The Way That You Walk’ and accompanying music video, both out NOW ahead of the sophomore album ‘ANIMALS’ out on July 1.
With outlandish singer-songwriter Nick Carver at the helm, surrounded by his talented band of butchers, the Melbourne-based (Inverloch, VIC) outfit are continuing to deliver their insightful stories through authentic roots and innovative rock that hums with a palpable emotional undercurrent.
Following up their latest thundering cowboy-rock single ‘Two Legged Dog’, released earlier in the year, Nick Carver & the Mean St Butchers are creeping back ominously with an Alt blues-folk single, ‘The Way You Walk’, directed at people (mainly men) who use their words to defer from their own deplorable actions.
Sauntering in with moody keys, resonate drums and seductive bass, the track draws on a raw, stripped-back energy, emphasising Nick’s compelling vocal and loaded revelations. Joined in the chorus by strong, vintage backing vocals, each lyrical hook is heavy with the burden of darkness as ominous melodies are contrasted by soulfully jovial keys. Toy synths and slide sounds that would make Pink Floyd proud take the song to another level in the climbing bridge, while a wheeling guitar solo is unleashed, continuing into the final desperate chorus.
Inspired by a dark role Nick Carver was cast in for a production of ‘The Boys’, ‘The Way That You Walk’ carries a sinister undertone that can be felt throughout the track and during the accompanying music video.
Simple yet compelling, the video sees Nick walking in slow motion towards the camera, starkly lit from behind by imposing car headlights. He is joined briefly by two of his bandmates as they continue to march ahead, while the car relentlessly continues to stalk them from behind. The darkness in this video matches the song’s intention to denote gender equality issues, as Nick Carver explains: “The song is directed at a particular sect of men who believe that their words and actions have no consequence, IN PARTICULAR THE WHOLE #NOTALLMEN BULLSHIT. But at the same time, it is directed at those people who use virtue signalling as a way to defer from their own shitty actions. So it’s a large fuck you to any man who feels that their words and actions should go unjudged or unpunished because they believe their intentions are pure.”
The band’s previous releases have seen support from Triple J, Double J, The AU Review, Beat, Scenestr, Amnplify, AAA Backstage and more, with the band also having performed at NYE on the Hill, Inverloch Sounds of Summer Festival and Folk Rhythm and Life Festival, as well as supporting artists like Ash Grunwald, Custard, The Fauves and The Tea Party.
Nick Carver & the Mean St Butcher’s newest single ‘The Way That You Walk’ and accompanying music video are both out NOW followed by the sophomore album ‘ANIMALS’ is out on July 1.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
