Alpha Wolf’s sold out ‘Metalcore Snitches Tour’ at the fantastic 170 Russell in Melbourne promised to be a great heavy show with international supports.

Paledusk, from Japan, opened the show and their energy was incredible! It was honestly the perfect opening set; heavy and paired with great enthusiasm, you could tell that these guys were giving their all and it really had the crowd feeling alive. Lots of jumping and spinning throughout the entire set, and as their set was coming to a close, vocalist Kaito could not express his thanks enough; a very heartwarming end to the Paledusk set.

Next up was Great American Ghost, you guessed it, from America. The band brought a real hardcore ‘punch’ to the show; mosh pits were started, heavy screams were heard throughout the venue, and vocalist Ethan Harrison’s own spit was caught in his hand, if that’s not a hardcore show then what is?! This set was got the crowd riled up for the rest of the night. The band played many crowd favourites, finishing with ‘Alter Of Snakes’, a great track and one that had many screaming along.

Fit For a King followed, also all the way from America. This was WILD! Bassist Ryan O’Leary demonstrated incredible talent as he spun his instrument around his body more times than I could count, and the power behind these spins I believe had many sure that the bass would fly into the crowd at any second. Back to the music, we heard some incredible vocals and many opportunities for a good sing along, particularly in song ‘Deathgrip’, where it seemed that everyone in the crowd knew the words. The set came to an end, however Fit For A King’s power remained right until their last words were sung.

Now what everyone had been waiting for, Australia’s own, Alpha Wolf playing their largest ever headline show. Excitement filled the air and the crowed piled onto the floor area, this crowd was ready for a good mosh. This set list was amazing; including favourites such as ‘Sub-Zero’, ‘Bleed For You’, and ‘Creep’. A steady stream of crowd surfers floated to the front the whole way through the set, many appearing to be having the time of their lives, along with the moshers who managed to keep their energy the entire time. The set seemed to come to a close, however something felt wrong, Alpha Wolf hadn’t played their most popular song, some lengthy chants of ‘one more song’ from the crowd fixed that right up though. Alpha Wolf returned to the stage and vocalist Lochie Goldwire challenging that he wanted to see ‘as many bodies on this stage as possible’, this of course resulted in a lighthearted thumbs down from the front of stage security, however this deterred no one. The band started playing hit song ‘Akudama’ to finish the night and the bodies really did start flowing. A few fans did manage to make it onto the stage before diving back in the crowd that had somehow gotten even more passionate for this final song. This was the perfect end to the night and many patrons left the venue with huge smiles.

The Metalcore Snitches Tour was definitely a wild one, the excitement of international supports along with a great Australian heavy band really paired for a good time, and it really showed in the crowd throughout the show. A very fun and energetic night at an awesome Melbourne venue.
