Sydney songwriter Blake Cateris’ follows up on his debut release with a brand new lyric video for ‘Careless Memories’, a moving piece placing you in the eye of a messy heartbreak. Hiding behind only his acoustic guitar, Cateris’ vulnerable adaptation of Duran Duran’s 1981 single Careless Memories harnesses his heart & voice to showcase them as a pillar of strength in a state of vulnerability.
Playing a blend of folk, punk & melody intertwined with angst which is channeled through his acoustic guitar, he draws inspiration from songwriters like Frank Turner, Butch Walker, Dave Hause & Laura Jane Grace and creates social commentary through a postmodernist lens on many of the issues and hardships experienced by the everyday person in the 21st century. Through 2019 and 2020, Blake has frequently appeared at Sydney’s Get Folked Punk nights/livestreams and was handpicked by Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) and Pinnacle Music Group to support him at his Sydney show at Manning Bar. Blake’s music has previously enjoyed airtime on Triple J & FBi Radio and he has also made multiple appearances on local and international podcasts.

“Through the lockdowns in 2020, I started up a requests system where I’d learn anything and everything people threw at me in return for a fee to help cover expenses since I couldn’t work. I discovered some amazing new music this way and one of the songs that came my way was Duran Duran’s Careless Memories.
While I was reading through the lyrics, I discovered how beautifully brilliant and well crafted they were – like I was reading poetry. Only to then be thrust on top of an upbeat 80’s pop rock song, I could hear it almost instantly: how good of an opportunity it was to put these lyrics to a more sombre and exposed arrangement.
There’s a beautiful element of truth in this song for me as it constantly throws me back into the thralls of my last relationship and the grieving process thereafter.“ – Blake Cateris
While this is Blake’s debut single, he has been a part of the global music industry since the age of 15 having been hired to tour the United States, Australia and South-East Asia with various acts and fronts and writes for Sydney punk band Molly And The Krells who are just about to get touring with Australia’s newest festival Uncaged alongside Wolfmother, You Am I, Tex Perkins, Bodyjar and Magic Dirt. Through this debut single, Blake shows a more personal side of himself as he eagerly spreads his wings into the unknown territory of a solo artist – a side he’s eager to explore more through 2022 and beyond.
“This is not your standard cover. This is not a boy picks up guitar and mindlessly plays a tune. This is artistry at its finest.” – Jade Guida, Rawing In The Pit
“Blake Cateris has a razor-sharp voice and surgically precise talent for songwriting” – The Underground Sound
Careless Memories was produced and mixed by Daniel Antix at Def Wolf Studios, mastered by George Georgiadis at Little Wing Production Co and is available worldwide now.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
