Kickstarting their next chapter of music, one of Germany’s most engaging indie groups – Nick & June – release a stunning new single in ‘Anything But Time’.

The track, taken from the duo’s new EP Beach Baby, Baby, sets the tone for the record to come: captivating and effortless music that speaks to the dynamic of these two songwriters and performers.

New music from Nick & June has been some time in the making, with the artists (Suzi-Lou Kraft and Nick Wolf) spending the few years prior to the onset of the pandemic in the album cycle of 2017’s My November My record; as well as discovering new influences and threads of inspiration for new music.

Having been away has made their love for music and performance that much deeper; ‘Anything But Time’ feels even more of an important release for Nick & June as they make their first steps back into the global spotlight.

Recorded in their home studio in Munich, Nick & June powered through the making of ‘Anything But Time’ during the depths of COVID-lockdown. No longer able to tour extensively through Europe, they had to rethink their plans and eventually, it led them back to the studio.

“We were actually in the middle of recording a third album, but then Corona postponed everything. You were no longer allowed to travel and there were contact restrictions, so we had to stop and rethink the plan. Most of the songs were written in an intimate setting. Since you were not allowed to leave the house, other instruments like small keyboards, old drum machines, tiny percussion stuff have become the focus of attention and the familiar sound kinda changed and evolved all over again.”

“The song was written really fast, very stream-of-consciousness, really really fast. It’s a brief song, with simple sounds, in fact just an old casio keyboard and a drum machine, with lots of ideas in it. We don’t do too much talking about the lyrics so people can interpret them in their own way. Besides, sometimes even we don’t know one hundred percent what they mean.” NICK & JUNE

With the release of ‘Anything But Time’ and then the new EP this year, Nick & June are excited to restart the momentum their previous music had generated and solidified over the years. To date, they have performed extensively off the back of albums My November My and Flavor & Sin; and have accrued an impressive list of accomplishments across radio, television and even film (their single ‘Home Is Where The Heart Hurts Pt. 1’ featured in 2014’s About A Girl, leading to over 5 million streams on Spotify alone).

Across all platforms, Nick & June have collected over 18 million streams of their music worldwide and have courted the attention of a global fanbase for their music; a gorgeous mix of melancholic indie-pop and folk music.
