“One song in, Darcie Haven’s proven why she’s an indie-pop star in the making.” – TRIPLE J

Today, rising star Darcie Haven shares the melancholy yet hopeful new single Coping and the accompanying music video directed by Luna Luare. Coping is the work of a remarkably assured songwriter, laden with heart wrenching lyrics and graceful balladry, underscoring Darcie’s relatable tale of emotional endurance.
Produced by Aidan Hogg (G Flip, Hatchie, Eves Karydas), Darcie has this to say of the single, “I wrote this song coming out of the first few lockdowns, feeling a little lost, overwhelmed, and reflective. I didn’t know who I was out of school, and being thrown in and out of isolation was quite jarring. I felt myself thinking too deeply about everything, purely because there was nothing else to do. Everything around me felt pretty grey, everyone was competing over who was worse off, but it was also the time I realised nothing really matters more than the people you love. Lockdowns were yucky (to say the absolute least), but at least they forced you into holding your family and friends close.”
The accompanying one-take music video compliments the track’s intimacy with the sole focus on Darcie and the emotions the song evokes. “This was my first ever music video, so it was sort of the birth of my visual artist aesthetic. It was so much fun finding a setting that I felt perfectly reflected me; a balance of rural, retro, grunge-y goodness. It took a lot of pestering everyone I know to find that hidden gem of an abandoned petrol station. I think the visuals that accompany a song are super important, and so in Coping’s case I wanted the video to help cement the atmosphere and vibe I was channelling while making the song; a melancholic, intimate beginning that expands into some big sweeping moments at the end” she explains.
The track follows on from her debut single I Wanna Be, that heralded the arrival of a singular talent. Released completely of her own volition, Darcie quickly caught the attention of producers across the globe, alongside praise from The AU Review, The Music, and triple j unearthed, who selected her as a feature artist. Since the release, Darcie has played as special guest for Dulcie, and performed at Sidefest and WA Day Festival, sharing the stage with the likes of Ruby Fields, Hope D and Teenage Joans.
Although profoundly contemporary, there’s a timelessness to Darcie’s music that belies its creator’s tender years with beguiling melodies and impeccable lyricism. Coping is the next chapter in the story of an artist who is truly only just getting started.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
