Off the back of releasing her brand-new single ‘Best Bad News’ which received adds across triple j and triple j Unearthed, a spin on Apple Music’s Global Chart Show, and shared via NME and Music Feeds, Kat Edwards has today shared the clip which premiered on triple j Unearthed.
Directed by Jacob Thomas and Harry Scott, the clip is a light-hearted take on falling into bad relationship patterns featuring a vengeful puppet ex-boyfriend.
Reflecting on the clip Kat says, “I’ve always made quite serious music videos, and because Best Bad News is a bit lighter in its delivery and theme, I wanted the music video to reflect that. Jacob Thomas and I came up with the treatment together, I really wanted it to be funny and not relate to the lyrics so much. I just wanted the music to be an accompaniment to the video.
We filmed across two days, in lots of fun locations across Melbourne (including Soda Rock diner on Chapel St). I remember laughing so much during filming, and the team we had on set worked so hard and well together.”
In celebration of her latest hit, Kat will be hitting the road for launch shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Not only will fans be able to see ‘Best Bad News’ performed live for the very first time, but they will also get a sneak peek at the forthcoming EP – details below:
The 22-year-old has been releasing music since she was a teenager but has never released music with the locked-in precision you’ll find on Best Bad News EP. The seven-track EP includes previous releases ‘Safety’, ‘Good Girl’, and ‘Don’t Call Me’; Kat reckons with the hard stuff of growing up with an easy emotional resonance, and, importantly, a newfound spirit of fun.
The end of 2021 saw Kat Edwards skyrocket into a new era with massive hit ‘Safety’, which was added to full rotation at triple j, landed at #12 most played, received Feature Artist of the Week and listed as ‘Ones to Watch in 2022’ at triple j Unearthed, as well as being listed as Ticketmaster AU’s Top 10 Breakthrough Artists of 2022.
