100 gecs

Presented by Astral People and Handsome Tours

100 gecs are at the very apex of internet culture with their signature fusion of chiptune, ska, and emo EDM. Ever since they became TikTok sensations with their self-released LP 1000 Gecs, Laura Les and Dylan Brady have been making waves across the hyper-pop genre. As with their recorded music, 100 gecs live defy all logic and, especially, all rules. Their planned 2020 Australian tour, which sadly didn’t go ahead due to COVID restrictions, sold out in astonishing time – so make sure you get in early.

slowthai

slowthai

Presented by Astral People, Handsome Tours and Laneway Presents

Northampton’s slowthai is heading to Australia and New Zealand with his first headline dates! Known for his versatility across the British hip-hop genre, the Grammy nominated slowthai presents a distinctively unique sound, a hybrid between early grime influence, and a coarseness comparable to the London Calling era of punk. Unafraid to speak his mind, on 2021’s TYRON he also bared his soul, delving into his turbulent upbringing, political beliefs and his own mental health. His impressive releases have earned him respect as a leading artist in the British Hip-Hop and Grime scene and won him the fan-voted NME Award for Hero of the Year.

DATES:

Sunday 29 Jan 2023 – San Fran, Wellington
Tuesday 7 Feb 2023 – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Wednesday 8 Feb 2023 – 170 Russell, Melbourne

Turnstile

TURNSTILE

Presented by Handsome Tours and Laneway Presents

From the moment they hit the ground a decade ago, TURNSTILE have never stopped moving forward – and they’re sure as hell not about to look back. The Baltimore band immediately distinguished themselves from the pack with their infectious, aggressive punk fusion; their welcoming, satisfying live shows; and most importantly, their willingness to experiment, as seen by the steady evolution from early demos to 2018’s Roadrunner ambitious debut Time & Space.

If Time & Space marked the sound of TURNSTILE charting new ground for hardcore, expanding stylistic boundaries and celebrating new possibilities, then GLOW ON is that utopic vision fully realized; 15 tracks devoid of boundaries, only abundant imagination, heart, and grooves plucked from all corners of the musical spectrum. Hardcore remains the heart of TURNSTILE‘s sound — songs like “BLACKOUT” and “T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION)” are guaranteed to stir up that heavy energy — but it moves to a more alien pulse this time around, an incessant arrhythmia that consistently keeps you guessing minute to minute, track to track.

DATES:

Friday 3 Feb – Northcote Theatre, Melbourne
Thursday 9 February – Metro Theatre, Sydney

It’s one of the reasons they’ve earned fans in everyone from Ed Sheeran and Elton John – and why their debut Australian shows are a must-see.
