Introducing Brisbane/Meanjin’s hottest pop-punk revivalists, Two Times Shy, with their third single ‘Tearing Up Inside’, out February 10 ahead of their debut EP, ‘It Looks Better Than It Sounds’ (March 10).

After the release of their debut single ‘Lonely’, Two Times Shy hit the ground running with their debut music video surpassing 35,000 streams on YouTube. Built off the foundations of deep-felt childhood friends Douglas Hudswell (vocals/guitar) and Cameron Nerney (drums), Two Times Shy draws upon personal struggles and sincere stories to craft emotional anthems that pay homage to Warped Tour veterans. Joining forces with bassist Jaden Wales and lead guitarist Adam (Wes) Snyder, Two Times Shy has imprinted their name into the thriving Brisbane emo scene as a force to be reckoned with.
Utilising driving pop-punk guitars, emotional vocal lines and high-energy drumming, Two Times Shy express their exhaustion over a failing relationship. Coming to terms with the demise of their love, Hudswell looks inside to reflect on what’s been and gone only to find himself torn and tormented. The momentum of the chorus is reminiscent of State Champs–catchy and energetic but somehow tear jerking. The powerful halftime ending explores the realisation of the end and finally having to come to terms with the loss of your love.

Two Times Shy provide us with their teardown of ‘Tearing Up Inside’: “Tearing Up Inside is written about a relationship breakdown and how it feels to go through something so tormenting and heartbreaking. Watching the one you love slip away, fall into the arms of someone else when there is nothing you can do about it; and although it tears you apart, you still love them and want to/will do everything you can to fix it. No matter how hard you try, the relationship meets its inevitable doom.”
Their 5-track EP humorously titled ‘It Looks Better Than It Sounds’ features ‘Tearing Up Inside’ and their two previous singles ‘Lonely’ and ‘You and I’. Incorporating nostalgic 2010’s infectious pop-punk melodies with tales of disintegrating relationships and internal trepidations, Two Times Shy have crafted a memorable, yet familiar sound that’s already taken to the heartbroken ears of the Brisbane alternative scene.
Winning the Toowoomba Battle of The Bands competition in 2022, reaching over 10,000 streams on Spotify and 35,000 views on YouTube, Two Times Shy is a name to watch out for in 2023 and the years to come.
Dig out your slapbands and checkered Vans because ‘Tearing Up Inside’ drops February 10 ahead of their debut EP, ‘It Looks Better Than It Sounds’ out March 10.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
