Laneway Festival 2023 has ended on an enormous high with more than 100,000 festival-goers joining us across Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. After a three-year hiatus, Laneway Festival is humbled and grateful for the support the Australian music fans have shown for our massive 2023 return.

Laneway Festival co-founders Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio said “We’re immensely proud to finish this year’s Laneway with another remarkable weekend across Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. The sun was shining, the artists were flying and the fan energy was exhilarating. From the moment we announced the line-up we knew we had something really special, and to see so many amazing music fans enjoying their fave artists after three years was sheer joy.

A special shout out to our best mates across the ditch in NZ. We were super bummed to lose you due to the Auckland weather but we’ll be back in 2024 to give you our best yet.”

Laneway Festival started as a series of shows at a tiny Melbourne bar and has bloomed into one of Australia’s most beloved festival institutions. Across a decade of expansion, Laneway Festival has become an international signifier of essential music, often booking acts just before they break globally.

The Class of 2023 will go down in the Laneway Festival history books. Fred again fever took hold of the nation during the Laneway tour, with the UK producer pulling some of the largest and most enthusiastic crowds we’ve ever seen. Performing to over 30,000 people in Melbourne, Laneway Festival is in the running for Fred again’s biggest mainstage set to date – but certainly not for long!

Phoebe Bridgers elicited some of the loudest screams and biggest sing-a-longs, while Joji made his long-awaited debut performances in Australia to adoring fans. Fontaines D.C. (who were just named Best International Group at the BRIT Awards) enthralled crowds with their grungy post-punk; Finneas won the award for the most impressive stage parkour, and Turnstile blew everyone away with their world-class live show that is equal parts frenetic and friendly. There were on-stage collaborations with The Jungle Giants and Sycco, Phoebe Bridgers with Julia Jacklin and 100 Gecs, and even an on stage proposal during Adam Newling’s Brissy set.

Thank you to the artists, patrons, crews, staff, volunteers and everyone who joined us for the long-awaited return of Laneway 2023. You can stay up to date with Laneway news and relieve all the best moments from the tour over at the Laneway Festival Instagram.

Stay tuned for exciting Laneway news and we’ll see you next year!
