Have A Good Day is the new Perth-based indie pop project combining the brilliance and feel-good energy of James MacCallum and Luke Minness, and they are debuting with their sugary single ‘Somebody, Nobody’ and accompanying music video out on February 16.
Between the pair, they have a wealth of experience playing key roles in other projects seeing support from the likes of Triple J, Unearthed, Tone Deaf, Beat Mag as well as sharing the stage supporting artists including Siobhan Cotchin, Dulcie, The Presets, Wafia, San Cisco, ALPINE and more.

Bursting out in delight, ‘Somebody, Nobody’ is a glittery, anti-gravity dose of vitality and joy. From dazzling synths and the captivating vocal delivery from MacCallum to its energetic beat and anthemic chorus layered with vocal harmonies, the single is reminiscent of 2010s pop and the playfulness of the 2000s.
‘Somebody, Nobody’ is about the love and space one’s support system fills after a relationship has ended. The track explores how the connection to one’s own body, the connection to nature and to loved ones can help bring life into perspective.
Breaking down the process of learning about yourself as somebody and as a nobody within the world around you, Have A Good Day brings these emotions to light and how it can be a positive experience.
Directed by Marcus Wong, the music video for ‘Somebody, Nobody’ enhances the tune. Set in a studio space, MacCallum and Minness fill the whole space with movement. Starting softly the verse floats through the white-walled studio before being met with the burst of the chorus.
Moving throughout the rooms, the music video captures the boundaries of authenticity between the performed self and the less observed relaxed self off-set. Emitting raw emotions of the bridge and pure euphoria in the chorus, Wong captures the intentional highs and lows of being the somebody and a nobody that Have A Good Day sings about.
Making a massive first impression with this first single, the duo already have an arsenal of vibrant indie pop up their sleeve for the year.
For now, let the good times roll when ‘Somebody, Nobody’ is out Thursday, February 16.
