Mornington Peninsula breakthrough act Teenage Dads have released their highly anticipated Midnight Driving EP and EP closer & focus track Goodbye, Goodbye Again, out now everywhere via Chugg Music.
Already racking up over 1.6 million streams on Spotify across, the Midnight Driving EP features recent electrifying singles Hey, Diego!, and Exit Sign, the band’s Hottest 100 debut single Teddy and EP opener and title track Midnight Driving released just last week, as well as two additional unreleased tracks. “The EP is about perspective. How things look from one point of view, and how they can change over time from another outlook. The songs feel like diary entries, documented internally, like conversations you have with yourself when you go Midnight Driving. A constant, internal form of therapy almost” the band explain. Tackling a variety of genres across the EP, on new single Midnight Driving and the two never heard before tracks, the band take a slight sonic detour from their distinctive upbeat, experimental sound and adventurous storylines uncovering a side of their sound that is a little older and a little wiser, yet just as catchy and sonically adventurous.
On new focus track and EP closer Goodbye, Goodbye Again, the band dial down the tempo a little to truly embody the knowledge that “Saying goodbye isn’t always easy, and Goodbye, Goodbye Again dives into the desolation you meet at the end. It might not be over forever, but for now it is.” Vocalist Jordy explains “While this was written at the point of a breakup I had been through, it seems the song also takes on the general idea of how difficult it is to say goodbye, whether that’s to a friend, to family, a lover, or even an aspect of your life that you are leaving behind: moving away, starting a new job, retiring.”
The new EP comes fresh off the back of their latest single release last week with Midnight Driving, and the incredibly eerie Halloween-inspired official video clip to go with it. Layering extraterrestrial-esque synths with a bass-heavy melody, Midnight Driving was written whilst “coming to an understanding that a relationship is on its way out. Maybe you don’t want it to end, maybe you do. Depends on which seat you’re in. Are you in the passenger seat begging to go for another drive? Or are you the driver ready to speed off into the night?” Directed by Kyle Caulfield (Three Nights) and shot on location in Melbourne, the band explain “we’ve always wanted to do something less happy-go-lucky, so it was an exciting change seeing ourselves in these spooky settings,” the end product like “a horror film from the 80s.”
With no signs of slowing down, Teenage Dads will kick off their national Midnight Driving Tour from this weekend taking their out-of-this-world live show across a 10-stop Australian & New Zealand tour playing their biggest crowds and venues yet. Renowned for their energetic and dynamic live show, the band will also join the 2023 Groovin The Moo lineup playing across six regional stops, before heading overseas with good friends Lime Cordiale playing as special guests on their UK & Ireland tour as well as their own headline shows across Dublin, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle and London.
The Midnight Driving EP follows on from the band’s debut in triple j’s annual Hottest 100 countdown coming in at #63 with recent single Teddy, and a first-time appearance on the stations iconic Like A Version segment covering The Buggles’ 80s anthem ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’ and original ‘Teddy’.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
