‘Apology’ is a song in disguise, presented as a summer-washed pop-punk tune that conceals a darker lyrical undercurrent. Sacrificing none of the dynamism, ‘Apology’ confronts listeners with the confusing duality of the mind. Struggling to make sense of sadness and defeat, lead vocalist Gemma tackles these emotions under the veil of positivity.
“The lyrics of the song tackle the tough situation of falling out of love with the person you’re with. When things seem to have gone stale and cold but you’re not quite ready to address it, out of the fear of letting go.” This Space is Ours
‘Apology’ was recorded between Pony Music, Studio Delos and United POP. This marks the second single the band have collaborated with esteemed producer Beau McKee (Earth Caller, Christopher Dicker, Between You & Me) on.
“This is one out of five singles we recorded with Beau McKee. We had a lot of fun with him in the studio and he ensured we were all comfortable enough to play around and achieve the exact sound we were looking for.” Gemma, This Space is Ours.
Accompanying this release is an animated lyric video from the talented Joanne Lee. Found through a serendipitous instagram scroll, after a few messages back and forth they combined forces. The result is a surreal, sci-fi mind-warm of This Space is Ours’ logo, a punk spaceman, travelling through the galaxy in his spaceship while contemplating a lost love.
This Space is Ours are a 5-piece Melbourne easy-core band that any existing fan of Paramore, Tonight Alive, or Stand Atlantic will find a new favourite in. Consisting of band members Gemma Dunsmore (vocals), Mark Sterner (lead guitar), Sam Pratt (rhythm guitar), Harry Wingrove (bass guitar), and Van Marks (drums), their refined and easy-to-love combination of pop, punk, and rock has begun carving out a dedicated fan base and caught the attention of industry tastemakers.
At the end of 2022, This Space is Ours released their sophomore single ‘My Name’ which garnered high praise from publications such as Amnplify, AU Review, Gig Bill, Heavy Mag, Kill Your Stereo, The Rock Pit and more.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
