Leony is one of Germany’s most in-demand artists – album singles ‘Faded Love’ and ‘Remedy’ reigned for eight weeks at the top of the German Airplay Charts, earning gold awards in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. ‘Remedy’ also skyrocketed into the airplay charts around Europe including France, Italy, Finland and Romania, not to mention reaching the Top 5 of the Official Charts in Germany.
Today Leony releases her long-awaited debut album ‘Somewhere In Between’, an exploration of her duality and identity as an artist. On the one hand, a confident singer and performer, on the other, a sweet and sensitive girl from Bavaria who has an undying passion for songwriting. The album shows both sides of her character with the first half featuring new works and pop hits, representing Leony the artist. The second half of the album showcases exclusive acoustic versions of records that Leony has worked on as a vocalist, songwriter or artist, providing a unique insight into the inner workings of her life outside of the spotlight. The rich variety of these songs illustrates Leony’s impressive range as a singer and songwriter. Leony shares “This debut album is close to my heart and it was important to me that the themes of my own life are reflected in it.”
Like almost all of her songs, the 24 tracks on the album were written in Berlin with Leony’s team, composed of Vitali Zestovskih, Mark Becker and Leony herself. They simply locked themselves in the studio and started to write, experimenting and going where the feeling led them. Leony speaks to her recording experience “It’s the most beautiful thing in the world, making music with your best friends every day. Doing what I love the most is an absolute privilege for me.”

The first track of the album, ‘Say My Name’, sheds light on who Leony actually is. “At the beginning of my career, I was always getting asked: ‘Who are you? I haven’t seen you before.’ It felt as though my successes didn’t always get the respect they deserved,” she elaborates. The lyricism within the song echoing this sentiment, “say my name, I’m here now, get used to it.”
Leony’s single ‘Somewhere In Between’, released as an introduction to the debut album of the same name, is currently #2 in the German Airplay Charts, and has already accumulated millions of streams. It deals with how people wanted to change Leony, trying to pigeonhole her, contrary to her nature. Leony says, “I was always told that I needed a big story or a scandal to stand out and be successful, but I just wanted to let my music do the talking for me.” It’s fair to say that Leony has found herself and doesn’t need gimmicks, pink hair or staged scandals.
The lead single from the album, ‘Holding On’, sees Leony explore a more melancholic side to her songwriting in comparison to its predecessors as she dives into the deep of an ending relationship. One of the two partners is not yet ready to give up on the other, or rather, doesn’t want to get over them at all. Leony sings about how the pain is the only thing that still connects you, so you hold on to that pain for so long to feel, at the least, some part of the other person. Leony tells us, “I really like it when people take something of their own from the song. Maybe the lyrics make you sad or you find your own connection to the words – but you still feel like listening to the song and it can lighten your mood.” Leony and her studio team crafted this song with an 80s influenced sonic palette, as they previously used on ‘Remedy’.

‘Lifeline’ is Leony’s first ballad. “This is a very special moment for me, because I actually only used to sing ballads in the past,” Leony explains. “I used to accompany myself on the piano or on the guitar. Over the last few years, I’ve moved more towards pop and dance, but I really wanted to show this earlier side of me on the album as well.” Lyrically the track is about having friends who might be going through difficult times. Leony’s message is, “If you need me, I’m here for you! I know it’s not always easy, I know life doesn’t always go according to plan. We don’t have to see each other every single day, we don’t have to bombard each other with messages, but if you need me, if you call me, then I’m here, I’ve got your back.”
‘Shooting Stars’ is the final song on the album, concluding matters in a positive frame of mind. “It’s about the fact that you’ve sacrificed and experienced a lot in your life and everything feels like it’s been leading up to this moment, when a shooting star grants your wish”, Leony firmly planting herself as the lead in her own story. “I’m just grateful for everything that’s happened and this song is meant as a kind of ‘cheers’ to my life, to all the people who are playing a role in it and who have helped me get to where I am today.”
Leony has amassed an incredible 1.5 billion streams across her catalogue, complemented by over 800,000 social media followers. She has worked with the likes of Alan Walker, Sam Feldt, Dimitri Vegas, Steve Aoki, Masked Wolf, Pascal Letoublon, VIZE, Capital Bra and many more. Her talents extend to songwriting for other artists, including ‘Never Let Me Down’ for VIZE & Tom Gregory, which reached Platinum in Germany, Canada, Poland, Austria and Switzerland. She also co-wrote the VIZE & Tokio Hotel single ‘White Lies’, another gold disc. This year extending her talents even further, Leony joined the star-studded jury for the top TV talent show ‘Germany’s Next Superstar’ which reaches millions of viewers every week, further cementing herself in the eyes of her adoring fans.
Leony’s flair for crafting irresistible pop records is evident in her collaborations with Sam Feldt & VIZE ‘Far Away From Home’, which went on to earn Gold accreditation, and ‘Paradise’ with VIZE & Joker Bra achieving Platinum in Germany, Gold in Switzerland and Triple Platinum in Austria. This all culminates in Leony achieving over 20 Gold and Platinum awards, and there’s no stopping her yet.
Leony’s debut album ‘Somewhere In Between’ is out now via Central Station Records/Kontor.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
