Singer, songwriter and producer extraordinaire Mirror Mirror is bringing the funk with new track ‘When You Find the Time’, out March 31.
After extensive touring as a member of local bands, Mirror Mirror sees Ondre Davis working solo, writing, producing and recording his own music out of his studio on the Gold Coast.
The spacey opening notes and funky baseline of ‘When You Find the Time’ instantly transports the listener to an era of glamour, when electric piano, reverb and disco balls reigned supreme. Davis draws inspiration from artist such as Bobby Caldwell and Ned Doheny, and the heavy late-70s influence is evident upon first listen of this sparkling track.
After years of gigging with local acts, Davis is taking the time out to write, record and mix by himself in his studio. His smooth and confident vocals perfectly compliment the groovy soundscape that builds throughout this track.

Lyrically, ‘When You Find The Time’ explores a classic scenario; waiting on someone to tell you something you already know. Ironically given the theme, Davis notes the demo for this track came out in less than an hour, with 80% of the instrumentation and lyrics complete.
Elaborating on the meaning behind the lyrics, Davis states: “It’s written from the perspective of the person that ultimately ends up waiting around for this day, knowing full and well what is happening but putting it on the other person to say it first.”
Mirror Mirror has received significant media support since debuting, being featured on the likes of Life Without Andy, Trouble Juice, MTV Upload, Triple J Unearthed, Pilerats, and many more. These platforms have praised Mirror Mirror for their unique sound, being described as both catchy and introspective, showcasing Davis’ ability to write emotionally resonant lyrics.
‘When You Find The Time’ is out everywhere March 31, and Mirror Mirror will be taking the tune on the road very soon – watch this space.
