Dami Im has unveiled the stunning video for her new single Collide which is out now via ABC Music.  Download / stream track HERE.

On discussing the concept behind the shoot, Dami explains, “I wanted the video of Collide to mirror the story behind the song which is about life transitions. The feelings are grief and fear, and finally finding acceptance and freedom. I wanted to incorporate elements of my Korean heritage with the 2 different hanbok looks, worn not in the traditional way. That’s also related to departing what I’ve known and colliding into a new world where the old and new meet to create something completely different. I had a great time shooting with my small team of creatives who I’ve worked with for my last video for ‘Pray’ and I’m so excited for the world to see this”.

The piano ballad was produced by Andy Mak (Vera Blue, Tina Arena, Boy and Bear) and co-written with Brisbane based producer Tom Eggert (Cub Sport, Sloan Peterson). Dami goes on to say, “Collide is about grieving the roads not taken and embracing the one that you’ve chosen. I started working on Collide with my co-writer Tom Eggert while I was pregnant. I wanted to write about losing my identity and heading into a new season of life.’  

Dami continues, “Initially the song was written just on the piano, but with Andy Mak coming on board to produce the track, it took a lot of experimenting to land on a production that had enough power and angst while preserving the raw fragility.”

Collide is the first taste of music from Dami’s forthcoming new album, set for release in the second half of the year.

Dami has recently taken on an Ambassadorial role with Destiny Rescue, an Australian based organisation with the mission of rescuing children from global sex trafficking and exploitation.  Dami has shared that she could not stand by any longer after hearing the horrendous statistics inflicted on children across the world.

“Child sex trafficking is the world’s fastest growing crisis and over one million children, some as young as two-years-old, are exploited, abused and molested by sex trafficking globally.”
