Anti-pop, laser focused, and versatile are just a few ways to describe the work ethic and unique sound of emerging Aussie artist and producer, Cult Romance.
With an unorthodox style and obsessive approach to music production, Cult Romance exercises his creative processes by writing, producing, and playing all instruments himself – a skill set reserved for only those that are 100% committed to their craft.
For Cult Romance, he found his passion for music to be the only constant variable in his unconventional life. From the age of 14, the New Zealand-born, Australian-raised self-taught musician began experimenting with his own sound, and since then, has channelled his irrepressible energy into creating music that is an extension of himself and his life experiences. With a strong Māori heritage, Cult explains how important that has been in his music career – “my Māori heritage heavily impacts everything in my life as I was surrounded by music from an early age…I learnt how to play guitar through listening to Māori songs…my mum releases Māori music online and Dad plays guitar.” In addition to songwriting, the now, 20-year-old found that producing his own music and having complete control over his sound was his ‘secret sauce’ into evolving into the artist that is Cult Romance today.

Cult Romance released his debut single, ‘Take Me Now’ in 2021 before hitting the road with 8 x ARIA award winner, Amy Shark on her 2022 QLD leg of her See U Somewhere Australia Regional Tour. 2023 kicks off with another release from Gold Coast local Cult Romance, titled ‘Ghost’, written, and produced by Cult Romance, mixed by Andrei Eremin (Death Cab For Cutie, Tash Sultana, Baker Boy, Tones And I) and mastered by Leon Zervos.
When asked about writing the song, Cult explains, “I reference my strict religious upbringing holding me back but ignoring them and continuing to pursue what’s true to me…I feel Ghost represents a feeling I’ve struggled with my whole life, with trying to break the mold and be my authentic self.”
With songs to cry to, and songs to rage to, Cult Romance displays a versatility that will transcend generations. Cult Romance is a determined, self-taught musician whose unrestrained style makes him an artist to watch in 2023.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.

I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
