Tay has shared his fourth offering ‘Oxytocin’ – a track about feeling like you’re not good enough for someone but giving it a go regardless. He explains, “Young love can be pretty brutal, especially when you have your eyes on someone who you may think is out of your league. This song is about getting out of the shadow and giving it a shot, you’ve got nothing to lose.”
Keepers of the Morning takes the listener on a journey of self-discovery, contemplation, gratitude, and the importance of connection. The kind of album that needs space to breathe, to be wildly free and to be grounded in nature, a resemblance of the environment in which it was created.
On the release of his debut album, Tay says, “Every artist says it, but I believe with all my heart that this album is my best work to date and definitely my greatest career achievement. Building a recording studio and going straight into writing, producing, and mixing a record almost broke me at times but because of that the end product is truly me and for that I’m very proud. Now that the record is released I feel it is now the worlds and not so much mine, my hope is that people will find these songs, and that they can help them feel inspired to live the life they dreamed.”
The origins of the album emanated in a cabin on a property in Kin Kin, QLD where Tay and his wife were living but the sounds of the world around them proved too noisy to record and so Tay decided to create his own sanctuary in the form of a sustainable self-built recording studio made from recycled materials and inspired from YouTube videos.
“I had the idea to build a recording studio in an old shipping container, this way I was investing in something that we could move with us wherever we decided to live next. The whole build took a few months with some much-needed help from friends and family here and there. I had no idea what I was doing and about 2 months of the build was planning and second guessing what will work, will it be soundproof, how do I make it sound decent inside etc. Once I was finally committed it kinda flew by and the end result was better than I could have ever expected.”
Tay’s song writing is an uplifting journey with melodies that infiltrate your core, ducking and weaving throughout the album, and leave you with a sense of nostalgic euphoria.
Setting the tone for the album, ‘I Miss It’ is an ode to friendships gone by, while ‘Oxytocin’ is the yearning of young love and the feeling of inadequacy. Previous releases ‘The Pill’, ‘Let The Fire Burn’ and ‘Sequoia (Lovers of the Mountain)’ are all rooted in community and evoke imagery of the natural world. Final track ‘Lead Weighted Slumber’ is an encouraging anthem to create your own path and live the life you have dreamed, and not someone else’s.
Tay gave Australian audiences a taster of the album with his massive 10-date national tour in January and he is currently touring around Europe & the UK in support of the release, including supporting The Cat Empire on their sold-out UK tour.
Keepers Of The Morning is the self-written and entirely self-produced work of art, by undoubtedly one of Australia’s most talented emerging indie folk writers and performers.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
