Thandi Phoenix, the talented Australian, South African singer-songwriter, has just unveiled her latest musical offering. “Take It Back” is the second single from her upcoming EP REBIRTH, due to be released on 7th July. The track comes hot on the heels of her previous hit single, “Hot Sauce,” which received widespread critical acclaim and scored a full rotation addition on Triple J, Joyfm, and iheart Radio.

“I wrote “Take It Back” remotely via a zoom session with Maribelle Añes (Vetta Borne) + Devin Abrams (Pacific Heights). It’s about moving on from someone that no longer deserves access to you and reclaiming your power and sense of self after the end of a relationship.” Thandi says.

Despite personal and professional challenges, including the loss of family members and a breakup, Thandi used these experiences to fuel her growth and success. She left her major label and took control of her career as a self-managed independent artist, determined to release the music she loved without needing approval. With the upcoming REBIRTH EP, Thandi boldly expresses her newfound independence as she continues evolving and exploring new sounds, heating things up more than ever.

Thandi is set to perform at ARETHA – A love letter to the queen of soul. The performance will make its world premiere at Sydney Opera House’s Concert Hall in June alongside renowned Australian vocalists such as Emma Donovan, Montaigne, Thndo, and Ursula Yovich. The show will feature a nine-piece band with music direction from Joe Accaria and narration by Jada Alberts. The show is a powerful memoir that celebrates the life and music of Aretha Franklin – one of the greatest voices in history and is sure to be a powerful experience for all in attendance.
