With just under two weeks till California’s DESPISE YOU (USA) embarks on their first Australian tour this May. Excitement levels are getting high. Innovators of the power-violence scene creating some of the hardest and most engaging music in the genre, DESPISE YOU’s journey to Australia marks almost three decades of the band’s existence albeit after a hiatus in the early 2000’s. Joining Despise You on their maiden Aussie voyage are Choof touring in support of their debut EP release of which you can read more about below. Along for the ride on this East Coast run will be local supports on the Gold Coast:  Shitgrinder + Entrapment. Brisbane: The Meat + Skirmisher. Canberra: Blight Worms + Bloodmouth. Sydney: Darkhorse + Maggot Cave. Melbourne: Extortion + Diploid. 

Despise You are legendary for their collaborations and split releases over the years with bands such as Suppression, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Stapled Shut, Coke Bust, and others, their West-Side Horizons compilation album features the bands formidable material from the 90’s and is revered by fans and musical contemporaries alike. Beginning their journey as a live band in 2007, DESPISE YOU have been in demand across the globe and live up to their reputation as the angriest band in the world.

Joining DESPISE YOU on the whole Australian tour is Melbourne’s outlaw grind bastards CHOOF. Their debut EP “Dimwitted Amoral Exploitation” is out on 27.04.23 through Dead Set Records; a visceral slab of carnage synonymous with the distinctive Melbourne grindcore sound. Catch DESPISE YOU and CHOOF as they trample the east coast this May including some of the country’s best extreme acts as local support.
