“Dappling guitars and a shuffling percussion form a vibrant undercurrent while Rusev’s soft and ethereal vocals skip across the surface: displaying a dizzying range and a yearning expression that echoes through the ether.” Backseat Mafia (UK/AUS)

Mulubinba/Newcastle-based indie-folk artist Bree Rusev has just revealed her pacifying single ‘One Last Dance’ – produced and mixed by Mitta Norath (DMA’S, Boo Seeka, Vacations).
Opening with sombre acoustic guitars and melting harmonies, ‘One Last Dance’ lays vulnerability on a canvas, exploring mindfulness through stripped-back production and prudent storytelling. Tranquil textures combine to elevate the song towards its superlative hook, rich with sentiment and charm. The song cascades to an intimate bridge, with Bree’s vocals and her guitar floating in limbo, pausing for reflection, before coming together for a uniting outro.
Bree talks about the meaning behind ‘One Last Dance’: “I wrote ‘One Last Dance’ for my HSC Music composition in Year 12 in 2021. The song is about how things in life can change rather quickly and to remember to stay present in the moment and to appreciate and enjoy these moments by being aware and mindful of the present.”
Previous releases from Bree Rusev have received support from triple j, triple j Unearthed, AU Review, Ear To The Ground Music (USA) and Lefuturewave (NLD). Her single ‘Goodbye’ took out first place in the Teen Category of the 2021 International Songwriting Competition, and ‘Dotted Lines’ charted at number six in the AMRAP Regional Charts.
Taking cues from Bon Iver, James Bay and Ben Howard, Bree Rusev started writing and performing after picking up a guitar for the first time when she was fourteen years old, flaunting lyrical wisdom beyond her years, accentuated by her characteristic voice. Bree has made a name for herself in the live arena, having shared the stage with the likes of John Butler, Fergus James, Jack Botts, Jordy Maxwell, Pete Murray, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Bakers Eddy.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
