Today sees the return of the multi-platinum selling and award-winning HILLTOP HOODS with their first new music for 2023, the brand new single ‘Laced Up’. Released through Island Records Australia/Universal Music Group worldwide ‘Laced Up’ follows the 2022 offerings ‘Show Business’ feat. Eamon and ‘A Whole Day’s Night’ feat. Montaigne & Tom Thum and is the third single to be lifted from HILLTOP HOODS forthcoming ninth Studio album.
On this latest single Suffa Says: ‘The idea for ‘Laced Up’ was inspired by an actual dinner I had with my wife when I was young and broke. We were at a pretty nice restaurant for Valentines Day, and I spent the whole time sweating about whether I’d actually be able to pay the bill or not. I was working at a factory at the time and was struggling to make ends meet. The funny thing is that I would have had crisp, fresh kicks on, and I would have been confident that I had enough money for drinks. It’s just how your priorities are when you’re that age I guess, at least that’s how mine were.’

Bursting straight out of the gate in 2023, HILLTOP HOODS made Triple J’s Hottest 100 history with the title of the most song entries within the countdown to date. Charting both ‘Show Business’ feat. Eamon and ‘A Whole Day’s Night’ feat. Montaigne & Tom Thum on this coveted list, the group’s Hottest 100 tally now totals a massive 23 songs.
This latest release ‘Laced Up’ shows the band have no plans of slowing down as they head off on a 13 date UK and European Summer tour, kicking off on Saturday June 17 with headline shows at London’s famed Roundhouse, Melkweg in Amsterdam, Forum Karlin in Prague, and Tonhalle in Munich to name a few.
The band will also make festival appearances at the much-loved ‘Summer Jam’ in Cologne, as well as Switzerland’s prestigious ‘Open Air Frauenfeld’, Europe’s largest hip-hop festival. Joining the band as the headliner show support in the UK and Europe will be Kenyan-born Australian singer songwriter ELSY WAMEYO, who also toured with the band on their highly successful 2022 National ‘Show Business Tour’.
After a whirlwind International run of dates HILLTOP HOODS will return home for Festival performances in Australia in July at Spin Off in Adelaide and Byron Bay’s Splendour In The Grass, before a 4 date New Zealand tour early September, including Queenstown’s sold-out Snow Machine festival.
