With just a few days left of this financial year, I’m writing to ask whether you can help us reach our goal of supporting music workers in need?
For many older age music industry workers, life is incredibly tough right now. Many don’t have a pension to fall back on, and of those that do, it’s just not enough to cover the rent/mortgage, pay the bills and put food on the table.
They’ve spent their whole lives entertaining us, and now it’s time to repay the favour.

Musician,Retired musician, Col Millington, is one such person who’s benefited from our support. He explains: “The age pension doesn’t seem to pay enough money. I’ve been my own retirement fund that I put together over the years, and bought this house, (but) the interest rates have just gone up so much over the past seven or eight months.
“I’ve had other problems like open heart surgery, due to the stress of losing all my work and trying to work out how I was going to live for the rest of my life.”
Thanks to the support of our generous donors, we’ve been able to help older age music workers like Col, who make up more than 20 per cent of those receiving crisis relief support from us this financial year.
“Thanks to Support Act, I’ve been able to get my own act together and get some support,” Col adds. “(They’ve) helped me out with paying bills and the odd things like that that have been a real struggle for me to pay because there’s not enough money on the pension. It saved the day for me.”
A donation of just $50 can help us continue our life-saving work by helping to pay the rent, supplement medical expenses or put food on the table for someone in crisis.
