Thandi’s journey to REBIRTH started a long time before that. Growing up surrounded by music, she was drawn to the icons of soul and R&B. Over the years, her scope of sonic influences widened – enamoured with its euphoric energy, she developed a love for electronic music and began experimenting with her sound. This is where she found her space and really hit her stride commercially Mell Hal with her unique take on dance infused pop. Showcased in her solo work and through her list of successful collaborations with renowned UK groups Rudimental & Sigma. In 2021 her collaboration with l saw the duo take out the longest reigning female lead #1 on the Australian ARIA Club Chart.

However, the road to REBIRTH wasn’t all smooth sailing. Thandi went through significant personal and professional challenges, including the life-changing impacts of COVID, the loss of family members, and the breakup of her relationship. Instead of retreating, the hardship galvanised Thandi to push forward and pursue life as an independent artist. “Loss and heartache force you to reflect and evolve as a person. Whenever I’m feeling lost or down, music has always been that thing that picks me up and keeps me going,” she says. Over the five tracks, Thandi asserts herself as one of Australia’s premier dance/pop artists, the songs energised by her renewed vigour for life and music. The EP was developed over the past 18 months with Thandi teaming up with renowned co-writers and producers, including Arona Mane, Billy Davis, Devin Abrams, JANEVA, Tentendo and Vetta Borne.
