I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”. BTS’ Jung Kook makes a top 10 debut
It’s another week with Taylor at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart as Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) holds at #1 for a second week, topping the original version of the album, which spent a single week at #1 in 2010. On the Singles Chart, the songs of the Northern Hemisphere summer are officially here, with Australian icon Troye Sivan and BTS maknae Jung Kook making big debuts.
Iconic Australian songbird Tina Arena roars back onto the Albums Chart at #2 with Love Saves. The winner of seven ARIA Awards and an ARIA Hall of Fame inductee in 2015, Tina has now scored nine top 10 albums, hitting #1 in 1994 with Don’t Ask and again in 1997 with In Deep.
In more Australian success, The Feeling of Falling Upwards (Live from The Royal Albert Hall) by six-time ARIA Award winners 5 Seconds of Summer debuts at #34.
The Perth band that represented Australia in Eurovision in May, Voyager, are new at #35 with Fearless In Love. It is their eighth studio album and first to chart here after the band placed ninth in the international song contest.
On the Singles Chart, Sprinter by Dave and Central Cee holds at #1 for a sixth non-consecutive week while BTS’ Jung Kook continues the band members’ solo debut success with Seven featuring Latto debuting at #2.
Last year Jung Kook featured on Charlie Puth’s Left And Right, which peaked at #19, while Latto got to #6 in 2021 with Big Energy featuring DJ Khaled.
Troye Sivan debuts at #12 with Rush, his 12th top 50 single in Australia. His biggest hit is his first, Happy Little Pill, which peaked at #10 in 2014. The new track will feature on his upcoming album, Something To Give Each Other, which arrives in October.
Billie Eilish also returns with What Was I Made For? from the Barbie movie soundtrack, debuting at #8, her 14th top 10 single here including the chart-topping Bad Guy in 2019.
The first two singles from the soundtrack, Barbie World by Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice and Aqua and Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night both climb this week to #23 and #27 respectfully. The movie was released yesterday in Australia.
