An emerging talent in the pop world, Melbourne/Naarm based singer-songwriter-busker ISHAN recently announced the release of his debut EP ‘The Cycle of Codependence’. The five track EP which is due to be released this November, was launched with the effervescent single ‘Cardboard Box Apartment’, and supported across Apple Music, JOY 94.9, SYN FM, and auspOp to name a few. Continuing to deliver beautifully crafted melodies, with rich guitar stylings, ISHAN shares a new anthem in ‘Someone Like Me’, out today.
With upbeat rhythmic percussion from the outset, ISHAN’s delicate, soaring and buttery vocal chops quickly take centre stage in this energetic new single. Reflecting on what he was looking for in a partner, ISHAN came to realise that accepting one’s self is a prerequisite for finding true love. He shares ’“‘Someone Like Me’ marks the end of one chapter and the start of another. A conversation with my best friend about why my relationship didn’t work sparked the realisation that we were just too different. He asked me what “similar” looked like and I said I wanted someone silly, ambitious, resilient and social… I didn’t know it yet but I’d basically just written the whole song; an anthem for knowing and loving yourself.”
A prolific songwriter, ISHAN has penned more than 130 songs to date, having released only a small handful since early 2022. Quickly gaining traction with support across Rolling Stone Australia, Tone Deaf, Apple Music, The Nine Network and more, ISHAN has been earmarked as one to watch.
The young musician has become a staple of Melbourne’s acclaimed busking circuit, regularly stunning audiences at the famed Bourke Street Mall with his soaring vocals, guitar work and ‘one man band’ live looping.
