‘Plague Of Locus’ EP released independently: October 19th, 2023
Australian extremists THE AMENTA have released a new track from the forthcoming EP “Plague of Locus”. A twisted and dingy take on the hypnotic Alice In Chains song ‘Angry Chair’. Boasting ten tracks this ambitious 40 min + EP features new tracks and a selection of cover songs that has inspired their inventive existence.
Composer and keyboard player Timothy Pope comments: ‘Angry Chair’, and the whole of ALICE IN CHAIN’s “Dirt” album in general, is a favourite of THE AMENTA. They had such a grimy, eerie and fucking heavy sound on the album and it’s always been a very big inspiration to us, especially when it came to the creation of “Revelator”. The drums for this cover were recorded at the same time as the drums for “Revelator” and, for a brief time, we thought about including the track on that album. To my ears, it shares a common feel. It has a hopelessness and pain that I think is threaded throughout “Revelator”. Cain’s vocals seem to bring out more of that desperate edge in our cover.’
“Plague of Locus” features covers from local black metal curios like NAZXUL and LORD KAOS to global alternatives like ALICE IN CHAINS, DIAMANDA GALAS and KILLING JOKE with stop overs for chaotic takes on WOLF EYES, HALO and MY DYING BRIDE.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
