‘CHECKMATE’:
The ultimate soundtrack
to navigating loves chessboard

Just in time for a return to finer weather, Melbourne/Naarm artist Jas. emerges with her new single, “Checkmate”. No stranger to the world of dance music, Checkmate sees Jas. impart her pop/electronic sensibilities on the UK-Garage inspired sound that has been a recent crowd favourite, and popularised by the likes of Disclosure, Raye, and Kaytranada. Set to release on October 27th via Hy-Lo Creative, the record follows her effortless indie-pop offering “EASY” released in June.

Leaning on her ever potent penmanship, Jas.’ lyrics describe the ebbs and flows of meeting someone new through the analogy of a chess match. She quotes: “When you’re getting to know someone, you’re constantly making calculated moves, waiting to see how they respond. But when you’ve decided that you want someone, waiting for them to admit they feel the same is like waiting for your opponent to call checkmate.”
Jas.’ layered vocals dance with dreamy synths and punchy percussion, painting an immersive soundscape that invites listeners to lose themselves in the song’s contagious groove. At the heart of it all, Jas. is back doing what she does best; Checkmate oozes charisma, and the type of effortless hook that is sure to linger in the minds of listeners long after the music fades.

Jas. achieved tremendous success in 2022, with her Debut EP “Along the Way” dominating Spotify and Apple playlists alike (NMF, Study Mode, Fresh Finds, Coffee Club, etc). The appeal of her music was felt globally, with both local and international radio stations (BBC1, Nova, Triple J, FBi, iHeart etc) featuring her on rotation. She also made strong headway in the visual medium, her single (and accompanying MV) “Ordinary” received rotation rights on popular music video channels Rage, and MTV. Jas. also made her mark in the fashion world, being featured in brand campaigns for heavyweights Neuw Denim, New Era, and HoMie. These successes were capped with a sold-out headline show at Melbourne’s Colour Club and, more recently, supporting Adrian Dzuke’s (sold out) Melbourne show at the iconic Workers Club.
Checkmate marks the start of a string of releases set to delight and engage listeners over the coming months. As the countdown to October 27th begins, anticipation builds for the release of this musical odyssey, exploring the intricate dance between hearts, minds, strategy and melodies. As the song says, all that’s left for you to do is “make your move”, and hit play.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
