Bursting with her youthful vitality, enthusiasm and a natural songwriting sensibility, Perth-based/ Brisbane-raised Lucinda Poy is releasing her playful debut indie rock track ‘Just Fine’ on Friday, February 9.
Since moving from Brisbane to Perth to study in the Advanced Music Artist course at the renowned WAAPA, she has been building upon her years of performing original music. Living and breathing music throughout her high school years, she toured QLD and New Zealand to promote music opportunities to students.
She then later won best original song at the Wynnum Fringe Festival in 2022, performed pre-game entertainment at Brisbane stadium The Gabba, and has built a new community in Perth, performing around the city and even on Channel 7’s Telethon.
Now, she makes her mark with her debut single release, ‘Just Fine’, a track that is about being let down by people but pushing through that adversity to keep trekking forward. This upbeat, feel-good indie-rock bop makes for easy listening as it drives forward with Poy’s gorgeous vocal delivery that has a maturity beyond her young years. Her relatable lyrics feel compassionate, authentic and carefree – perfectly capturing the essence of this young woman making a powerful debut in the industry.

Lucinda Poy speaks on the meaning behind the track: “‘Just Fine’ is about piecing yourself together after facing challenges. People I’ve depended on have left without warning, built up my hopes too high… and I was crushed, so I had great material to work with! I wanted to reassure the listener that it would all be okay, that the facade of being ‘Just Fine’ would eventually turn true. “
There’s no doubt that Poy is carving her own path in the music scene, and she is making a very promising start with this debut single, capturing that feeling of youth, resilience and the possibilities that lie ahead.
