Charm of Finches today share their playful new track and accompanying video ‘Middle Of Your Mess’, the third single from their anticipated forthcoming album, Marlinchen in the Snow which is set for release Friday 19 April 2024 via SPUNK! Records / Virgin Music Group and available now for pre-order.

‘Middle Of Your Mess’ is upbeat folk-pop in full sun-drenched summer resplendence. Featuring Charm of Finches’ signature blood harmonies, dreamy 60s backing vocals and laid-back vintage snare, the award-winning Melbourne sister duo reflects on the meanness that can be disguised as sweetness within some female friendships.

Accompanying the new track is a music video filmed at the grand historic Beleura House and Gardens in Mornington, VIC. With aesthetic influence from films such as Saltburn and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, the video is a charming picnic that goes terribly wrong as per the duo’s usual gothic tendency.

Marlinchen in the Snow is Charm of Finches’ fourth full-length album release. After five months of touring across Australia, UK and Europe, the album was recorded in the woods of Nova Scotia during the depths of winter with acclaimed Canadian producer Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, The Once, Oh Pep!), the album is inspired by the frozen beauty of the landscape in which it was created. It reflects on Mabel and Ivy’s transient life on the road, belonging and the idea of home, along with the fragility of relationships.

A gothic fairy tale awash with blood harmonies that traverse melancholy and wonder in equal measure, Marlinchen in the Snow, is available for pre-order today. Charm of Finches are set to play the album live at tour dates across Australia this April/May before heading to the UK, Europe and Canada on a world album tour.

About CHARM OF FINCHES

Sisters Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes (aka Charm of Finches) released their third full length album Wonderful Oblivion in 2021 through New York-based label AntiFragile Music to critical acclaim. They have since toured extensively through the UK, Europe and Canada in 2022/23.

Winners of the Australian Folk Music Awards Best Folk Album (2022) and Music Victoria Best Contemporary Folk Act (2021), their music has been nominated twice for the prestigious Australian Music Prize.

In February 2023 the sisters spent a month in rural Nova Scotia recording with acclaimed Canadian producer Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Oh Pep!), inspired by the frozen beauty of the landscape and their transient life on the road with their music. The result is their fourth studio album, Marlinchen in the Snow, to be released Friday 19 April 2024 via SPUNK! Records / Virgin Music Group.
