Underneath the funky 3-piece rock ‘n’ roll outfit of The Wild Sky, beats the heart of the blues. The Ozzy Rock Trio bring Indie Rock and Blues together with catchy hooks and hard-hitting grooves. They hail from a small town in Far North Queensland while having a diverse line up of nationalities within the band. After already releasing a string of singles across last year, the band followed up with the strongest track to date with “Battlefield” out on May 24.

“Battlefield” was originally penned by the band’s drummer, who presented it to the band who all helped build it from there. The track was later recorded at Alchemix Studios in Brisbane, with Andrew Nolan providing engineering, mixing & mastering for the track.

The trio describes their latest single as, “Battlefield is ultimately a song about a hypothetical dysfunctional relationship and knowing it’s unhealthy, yet almost being addicted to it and sticking around for more. There is a push-pull theme. I’m leaving, actually no, I think I might stick around a bit longer.”

They add, “The vibe of the song was inspired by the catchiness and cheekiness of songs like The Offspring’s ‘Pretty Fly for White Guy’ and Smash Mouths ‘All Star’ all the while sticking with the same ingredients that make up the Wild Sky’s signature sound. Blues and funk inspired chords and changes, hard hitting drums and bass, moments of instrumental razzle dazzle and of course lots of hooks to get stuck in your brain.”

Led by the gravelly voice and slick guitar skills of Irishman Ron Croker, the rhythm section comprised of Evan Daly on drums and Michael Peters on bass is tight, relentless, and funky. Their high energy sound will have you possessed by their hypnotic groove while singing along to the infectious hook driven choruses by the second time round all the while delivering enough musical exploration to captivate the more discerning listeners. Starting up in 2022, they have since played festivals with the likes of Grinspoon, 360, San Cisco, Ian Moss, and have supported The Superjesus and The Rubens. Make sure to follow The Wild Sky on all socials to keep with all things coming in 2024.
