Central Coast band Little Quirks have returned with gorgeous new single ‘Caught In June’, enthralling listeners with their mesmerizing vocals, poignant lyricism, and an intense emotional crescendo.
Listen to ‘CAUGHT IN JUNE’ HERE
Loosely inspired by Phoebe Bridgers and her band boygenius, the trio incorporates doubled vocals and electric guitar to create a melancholic atmosphere reminiscent of their influences.
Vocalist and mandolin player, Jaymi Toole comments on the writing process, “The initial ideas for the concept of the song started with the title. The name ‘Caught in June’ actually came from a cat I used to own with my partner. When June was a kitten, she used to play tag with me around the apartment, pouncing on my leg like she ‘caught’ me. That playful memory kind of became a metaphor for the song’s bittersweet theme of being stuck in a moment in time.”
Expanding on this idea of nostalgia and reflecting on the cherished moments of a prematurely ended relationship, Jaymi took the song to Abbey and Mia and together they crafted a new chorus that delves deeper into the complex emotions of lingering attachment and the realization that those moments may be gone forever. Jaymi says, “Abbey and I usually write our songs for Little Quirks separately but as we were writing Mia suggested that it might be special if Abbey and I shared lead vocals, making it more of a duet.”
They have also shared the accompanying video filmed on a camcorder while out on a day in Sydney – “We wanted to capture some nice and thoughtful moments as well as show our character in the clip.”
The trio also have upcoming performances at this year’s Gympie Music Muster on August 22, performing alongside artists Brad Cox, Shannon Noll, The Whitlams, Casey Barnes, and Mitchell Creek Rock & Blues Festival on September 13.
With a DIY mindset that would rival any act – the band make all their own recordings, videos, stage costumes, artwork and merch – Little Quirks are a breath of fresh air full of unbridled joy, with their explosive and powerful live shows guaranteed to be a smile-inducing experience for the masses.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
